i have a little 20 gig hard drive with win 98 on it. if i bought a 250gig with my system running a 256 would it be ok cause i wanna put xp on the new one?

If you mean your system has 256mb of RAM?

Make sure your system BIOS is up to date so the motherboard recognizes the larger hard drive.
Are you planning on replacing the 20gig drive altogether? Or, are you planning on doing a dual boot? If you are doing dual, I would recommend that when you install XP, that you format it to NTFS, not FAT32. 98 won't be able to read the drive, but that will keep you from accidentally deleting anything from that drive while using 98, as well as any other problems you may run into with 98 and a large HDD. Different OSes play ok over a network or the internet, but they don't play well with each other on the same system.
