hi there, first let me apologise if you have answered these qutions before but i can't get the actual answers by searching, theres always that "extra" bit I need to know.....so here goes, be gentle, I'm new to the PSP, only just thinking of buying one....

I've seen various posts here/ads on ebay etc stating you can get discs with ripped games on that you can play on the psp but i think i've sussed this only works on certain versions of software on the psp?? can you upgrade again if needed? is it worth doing? can you still play original games after? if this is correct, could you advise which version is best and which I am ok in buying. How do I know which version it is before buying? does it say on box? do I lose anything by downgrading? like i said its all new to me so i'd be grateful if someone could take a bit of time and tell me these things. thanks all

This may help:
First, find the barcodes on the box and look for PSP-1001 K (the 1001 can be different, depending on where you live.)

No Letter = 1.50 (North-American release) Confirmed
A = 1.50 Confirmed
B = 1.51 Confirmed
C = 1.52 Confirmed
D = 2.00 Unconfirmed
E = 2.00 Unconfirmed (Most likely 1.52)
F = 2.00 Confirmed
G = 2.01 Confirmed

thanks, which are the version NOT to get? what are the differences between the versions, ie what am i losing by downgrading??

You don't want to get a 2.01

Version 1.5 can play downloaded games for free...version 2.0 can be downgraded to 1.5 but anything above 2.0 cannot be downgraded and can't play dowmloaded games
