Suddenly, burned DVD-R's do not play. Nero: The disc is empty.

I have an HP Media Center zd8230us Notebook PC, and up until recently, have been writing DVD's without problem.

Now what happens is that the DVD authoring software (both Nero or CDBurnerXP Pro 3) behaves as though it burns the DVD, but when I try to play it, it does nothing!

The DVD-R even looks like it has stuff burned to it. But, when I put it into the drive and get disc info from Nero, it says "The disc is empty".

I've finalized the disc and done it with no multisession, so I don't think that is it.

Can anyone help? It would be GREATLY appreciated.

Also, I can PLAY previously written DVD's with no problem.

I have the same problems. Disabling Windows IMAPI.EXE seemed to help.

how long have u had your dvd burner?, it might be worn out
