I?m trying to back up my Western Digital SATA HD

to my Maxtor IDE HD because It has virus that I cant

get out.. can it be done with a SATA to IDE converter .

making my Western Digital SATA HD as a slave?

and my old Maxtor IDE HD as the master?

If you backup a disk with a virus to another disk then there is a good chance that you will infect the destination disk as well. Concentrate on getting rid of the virus.

You can using an online virus scanner. If the scanner doesn't get rid of the virus, it should at least tell you what the virus is. Post that back here, and we'll help you get rid of it. What Cornwafer posted is true...you run the risk of spreading that virus no matter what file/folder you want to backup. Best you hold off until you get rid of the virus.

For virus removal NOD32 is one of the best, try downloading the trial and running that. If you have two computers, take the HD out of the first, put it in the second and scan it with everything you have. Just make sure you don't boot off that drive, add it as if you were adding another storage drive.

does not support a SATA HD and the computer
