Yo, i have burned the keylauncher and changed the LBA code. The cd was copying the softwares but failed on MCExploit. But i didn't see where it copied the files. On no memory card there are files. So i reburned the cd deleting MCExploit from the KL.DAT file and i launch and it was say "Installation Complete". But nothing occured. May i have to change anything ? What's the stuff on the LBA ? Thanks.

Sometimes you feel like you lived nothing something too much, you release that you don't use what you have, you not in the right space time
that's why you have to regulate your mind, with some MEDITATION on you if you're wrong with society, all your memories and your good post in your brain are the way to feel a better intelligence but you have to organize your mind...

help..newbie here, I know this may be a little off topic, but i need the help. I want to load the swap disc 3.6 plus from my memory card. Heres what I did:

How to install by the CD image :
First you need to download the files from http://www.swapmagic3.com/smboot.zip
Then you need to unzip the file (SMBOOT.ZIP). Afterwards burn the image file (PS2.ISO) into
a CD and boot it with the SwapMagic3.6. Referring to the file list found in the
"..\SMBOOT\FILE.LST", files in folder "..\SMBOOT" will be installed into the slot1 memory card.
However, you can edit the "..\SMBOOT\FILE.LST" to remove a line of
"FILExx=XXXXXXX.XXX;1" to install less file, or replace any of the files in folder "..\SMBOOT"
with your prefer.
FILExx=XXXXXXX.XXX;1(XXXXXXX)
^ ^ ^
| | |
| | remark
| filename will be installed into slot1 memory card
filename in folder "..\SMBOOT"
How to launch:
Put the memory card in slot 1 and boot SwapMagic3.6, if the program
"mc0:/SWAPMAGIC/SWAPMAGIC.ELF" is found and it will be launched automatically.
When the title screen appears (you will see 2 options Load Program and Video Mode on the
screen), you can press:
A. "UP+L1" buttons to load SMBOOT0.ELF
B. "UP+L2" buttons to load SMBOOT1.ELF
C. "UP+R1" buttons to load SMBOOT2.ELF
D. "UP+R2" buttons to load SMBOOT3.ELF

I burned the ps2.iso, and booted the disc with it, but it led me to a naplink screen that says, cable: not ready, and PC: not ready

isnt it supposed to lead me to the original screen?

Please tell me what I am doing wrong here.

Thanks in advance!

If anyone is still looking for the files to get started just get it here http://www.sksapps.com/exploit/exploit.zip .If you put Swap Magic on your memory card you will be adding more steps to boot a game.If you think about it the Swap Magic has a TOC (Table of Contents),if you take the TOC it won't read any game.If you put it on your memory card you will have to insert a disc with a high TOC in order to boot a game,so it really isn't to your advantage to use the Swap Magic off your memory card.

Hola! I'm just a tad confused... I purchased a PS2 (chubby) with the Independance exploit already set up for me to use. The only problem is, instead of using a traditional menu system, the guy that set it up used an ELF called "Keylauncher" by Mr. Siir that only lets you run ELFs that are assigned keys on the keypad. I need to use Cogswap, and it's not one of the assigned keys... I'm unsure of which ELF to modify, as I'm still pretty new to this. If someone could e-mail me with some help, I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks, Davis.
A list of the files in the orriginal file:
BOOT.ELF
EXECFTPS.ELF
HDLOADER.ELF
IPCONFIG.DAT
KL.DAT
PS2SMAP.IRX
SMS.ELF
SNES_EMU.ELF
TITLE.DB
USBD.IRX
bg.gsi

DavisJ3 you will have to open up the KL.DAT file in a text editor like notepad to see what elf files are assigned to what buttons. The layout for the KL.DAT should be as follows:

BUTTON=PATH;NAME, For example: R1=mc0:/BEDATA-SYSTEM/DEMO.ELF;DEMO

R1 being the button
mc0:/BEDATA-SYSTEM/DEMO.ELF is the path of the elf file
DEMO is the name that will display for the elf file

Note:If you use Keylauncher you only have 10 buttons to assign for your elf files, which means you can only store 10 elf files on your memory exploit(I highly doubt you will use more than 10,but just a reminder for everyone that wants to use Keylauncher).

Oh, thanks! That's perfect... Now, if I wanted to replace the keylauncher with a scroll menu, is there an ELF that'll do that? I've heard of PS2Launcher, but when I tried to delete KL and put PS2L in it's place all I got on my TV was a red screen of death...

scroll menu?? what do you want the menu to do exactly. most people are using the unofficial Launch Elf nowadays. ULE 4.X

search for sksapps and you should find most of what you need there.

Well, I'd really like just a straightforward menu with all my elfs listed instead of just assigned keys to them. But for right now what concerns me is: The file KL.DAT that I'm to edit is embedded in another file called EXPLOIT.CBS, so I can't get at it. I tried to make another exploit using SaveBuilder that only contained KL, but that didn't do anything. Any help on extracting this file would be much appriciated! Oh, and by the way, I'm using the Codebreaker method for the exploit.

since you're using the codebreaker method, then you should go with unofficial Launch elf. or ulaunchelf as your file loader. that is constantly being worked on and improved. i havent been paying much attention, but as far as i know, keylauncher is not updated often.

And in order to use one of these elf launchers, all I need to do is replace KL.DAT with it?

even though it's a .ps2 file by name, it's not the same kind that game shark, etc, use to put on your memory card. it's a proprietary format that just holds the layout for projects in cdgenPS2. it doesnt even store the data in the files.

alright...i've been messin around with the ind. exploit for awhile and here's my problems (there are a few, heh):

1. since i have swap magic, i thought i could load the exploit with ulaunchelf directly from my memory stick. problem is, it freezes whenever it's inserted prior to booting and, if inserted after, freezes when i attempt to load it.

2. compiled my mc exploit cd and everything was transfered successfully to the mc. from there it takes me to the ps2 menu and, obviously, says to insert a ps format disc. after restart with the trigger disc (tried it with 2 of them), it hangs up and gives me a blank screen (black, not "red screen of death" or whatever).

3. just said screw it and created a "live cd," where everything ran beautifully.

so i ask...should i try another ps2 game? is there something wrong with the exploit utility? does it matter that it automatically inserts SLUS_XXXXX instead of SLUS-XXXXX or SLUSXXXXX? should i create my own TITLE.DB file? i'm kinda stuck and i'm running out of cds!

correction...try another ps1 game. it would be pretty easy to diagnose the problem if i was using a ps2 game for the TITLE.DB file.

got it. i have no clue what i did differently this time...just included another disc id # in TITLE.DB. maybe it didn't like the disc i was using before? i also formatted the memory card beforehand, so maybe that was it. i hate these max memory cards so much.

I know I probably seem incompetant by this point, but I'm still confused. I put BOOT.ELF into my save (of the ULaunch flavor), but it still defered to KL. I deleted the KL file, but it just tried to launch, then gave me a could not find file error in spanish. I'm not sure which other file to look at to fix this... Any more help would be greatly appriciated. Thank you all so much!

if you want the most basic, bare bones memory card exploit that will work FOR SURE, create one using the aforementioned exploit utility. you have to have a way of transferring it to your memory card though. are you using a cd as your means of getting it to your memory card? if so, get a couple of original ps1 discs and use the utility's "get disc id" function to automatically add them to the compilation's TITLE.DB file. if you're using gameshark or ar max to transfer them or some other method, i'd say there's room for error. burning the program's output .bin and .cue with Alcohol 120% is what got it for me finally. i stopped trying to make a fancy disc with all kinds of .elfs that may or may not have been supported or hanging something up during the boot sequence and voila! i just run everything off the memory stick and, after i use hd loader in a minute, the hard drive ;)

do not hate the max memory cards. what particular type did you get? i've had 16MB, and i currently have 64MB, gave one to my li'l sisters for their exploited ps2 also. i have NEVER had any problems at all.

davis:
you just need to try a little bit harder. you may not want to, but try formatting your MC, and then redo your exploit from the very beginning instead of copying the boot.elf file. give that a try and see if it would help.

i have the 16mb one. i keep getting corrupted data on the damn thing, so i really can't help but hate it. thanks to this mc, i have to start scarface over from the beginning! not a big deal, i'm just a hater. now i just need to find a program to transfer my saves to my pc or to the hd and i'll be fiiiine. i'm sure i could create a partition on the ps2 hd and transfer the files through the browser somehow. a little off subject though...

dont sweat about the corrupted data blox on it. those are config folders and settings folders. sooooo.... as long as they dont get too large and outrageous, DONT MESS WITH THEM.

transferring game saves??
the latest (even the cracked) codebreaker (you must SEARCH for it) will let you save from MC to HDD, or even from MC to USB.

To recap:
I'm using the codebreaker method (PC to USB, USB thru Codebreaker to MC), and using the exploit that came with my PS2 (uses Keylauncher) isn't working. So I need to make a completely new exploit save with a completely new TITLE.DB, and a different boot elf. I think that's what's being said. Now, about formating my MC, is there a way to do that from the PS2 Browser? I don't have access to an MC formater, seeing as there's not one that came with the origonal exploit file...

for whatever reason, i dont remember if there's a way to format... i know you should be able to delete game saves off it... at least.

did you try the independence exploit? you could also go to www.exploitstation.com, and search for ubergeek42's exploit installer. it's supposedly good and easy to use. i've never used it, because i had the exploit done beforehand.

I can see my MC in the browser, but I'm not sure if there are un-shown files on it. For example, when I put another exploit on my MC through Codebreaker, I get an override warning, which I ignore. But I never see "my system config" in the standard browser, so...
