hi, i recently brought swap magic 3.6 for my ps2 and have managed to get my back ups to work but i had a recent problem. The problem was... i downloaded a game (just to try) called the crazy frog racer (downloaded as it was a small file n just wanted to try) im not a fan of this little frog but anyway... it was in 17 seperate .rar files and i managered to extract them to a folder and so i ended up with a .bin and a .cue file i then used WinISO to convert the .bin to iso (dunno y, then both the same thing aint they?) after converting to iso i then write it to disc first with alcohol 120% i then loaded up swap magic went to swap locked the drive pressed (x) and it came up with 'Not a valid PS2 disc' in blue writing so i tried to then write it again but with nero but still this blue writing appeared! when i looked at the disc files they looked all ok like any other ps2 (compact disc) game. so whats going on? what have i done wrong? i am very annoyed this wont work as i was hopeing it would! could any one please help me i would be very thankful, either e-mail or p.m me cheers everyone. :-D

14. Q. How do I burn PS2 CD-ROM based games?
A. Use Alcohol 120%.
1. Insert your blank disc.
2. Open Alcohol 120%.
3. Go to File-->Open and browse to the cue file. Double click it. Make sure the cue and bin file are in the same directory.
4. Once the cue file is open under Alcohol 120%, right click the cue file go to image burning wizard.
5. Set the write speed to 4x, the write method to DAO/SAO, the data type to PS2, and select your recorder, click next.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272928 This thread says the game is CD-ROM based. I don't even think it's possible to make a bin file out of a DVD-ROM game. Even if it is, nobody would bother. Iso is the standard DVD-ROM format. Burn the game following the instructions I posted.

Are you trying to burn it to CD or DVD? It's a CD-ROm based game, so you need to burn it to CD. Furthermore, you need to use the Swap Magic CD, not the DVD to get the game to boot properly.

Also make sure you copied it right and everything and make sure you're burning it with good media. I suggest Maxell DVD+R.

What type of media are you using?
1. Q. How do I burn PS2 games?
A. Use DVD Decrypter.
Guide: http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html Burn at 4x on an 8x DVD-R.
2. Q. Does the type of media I use matter?
A. YES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240341 If you're too lazy to read, use Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Ritek, Sony, TDK, Maxell, Sony or Phillips DVD-R's. Avoid Memorex, Staples, Imation, Dynex, Princo, Bulqpaq, etc.
CMC Magnetics is garbage. Need proof (Thanks to Alkohol):
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/262544 If you really want to do the PS2 backup thing right, pick up some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's. I only burn to TYG02, the 8x Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. So far I've never had a lag, skip, freeze, or boot failure since I switched to Taiyo Yuden's. With results like that, why would I use anything else?
3. Q. Do I need some type of mod to play PS2 backups or imports?
A. Yes you need a modchip: http://teammodders.com/ps2_mc.php?ex=2 Swap Magic: http://swapmagic3.com/ Memory Card Exploit (Doesn't work with v.11 PS2 and later): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/109289 HD Loader: http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall#prepare or

This is an authentic game so no problems with the media type.I'm not sure what the heck is wrong with this.

Well Swap Magic isn't necessary to boot an authentic game. Does your PS2 boot other originals? Your laser/disc may be scratched or dirty. Try cleaning it.
65. Q. I suspect my laser could be dirty. Should I use a lens cleaner or open my PS2 and clean the lens with a Q-tip and rubbing Alcohol?
A. Avoid the lens cleaners. They have the potential to scratch the lens making matters worse. The best strategy is to open your PS2 and clean the lens with a Q tip and rubbing Alcohol.

I'm using the slide card right, its just that when I get to the menu for Swap Magic and I insert NH3 it says not a valid PS2 disc.

Not sure if this will help, but I think i had the same problem and when i burned the game, i checked on my computer to make sure that it burned a dvd-rom, (says dvd-rom in drive, under my computer). Im using verbatim DVD-R 8x at 4x speed with DVD Decrypter iso read and write. Tokijin knows what hes talking about, use his guide i did and it worked perfect.
