One of two things happens when I try to compress a DVD from DVD-9 to DVD-5. Either a major system error occurs and the system completely reboots or I get 'Error 0006: DVD-RB has found framecount differences between the PREPARE and REBUILD phases. Aborting.' Both occur only during the rebuild phase and have been occuring every time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both DVD-RB Pro and CCE SP. I have tried both the most current and some older versions. I have even done a format and clean install of Windows XP Pro SP2. I have also tried using 6 different ripped DVDs, ripped with 3 different rippers. Same results every time. I have no trouble transcoding with Nero Recode 2 or DVD Shrink. Can anyone tell me what is going on. I have not had this trouble until recently. I have not tried checking the 'Special Error Processing' yet, since I don't understand what exactly this is for. Thanks.

Sometimes it's not the software that's causing the problem but the hardware instead. Here's a couple of tips, that just might get you over the bumb.

First a couple of questins.

What version of avisynth are you using?
Is your system overclocked?

Now for a couple of small interventions.

1.Defrag your hard disk

2.Turn off your PC, open your case and do close inspection of your heatsink. If it's covered in a lot of dust then your CPU is over heating and Barton cores can run quite hot. Clean it very carefully (ok, ok I use a small vacumn cleaner with a plastic hose to suck the dust out. I live dangerously. LOL)
Once it's clean give it another go.

the shut down is probably due to overheating as soph said!
but I would think that would happen during re-encoding as opposed to rebuild ahh small matter!

the frame count error is from copy protection!
dvd fab decrypter has been doing well @ getting past those errors if not you should use the psl2 plug-in wizard w/ fix vts to clear the "looping" that is caused by newer protections!

Watch the rebuild stage and the Asus PC probe at the same time and watch the temperatures climb. It's quite a CPU workout.
