Need Help Converting DivX to DVD

I have two DivX movie files that I have spent the last 2 weeks trying to convert to DVD. Finally "succeeded", but the video quality was so poor that I can't help but think that a better-informed person could help me do a better job of converting it.
My first problem is trying to combine the two DivX files. I used the program suggested by the Guide ("VirtualDub"), but the framerates were different between the two files, and I couldn't get them fixed.
I tried NeroVision, but it's output was an .nrg file, and I had no idea how to convert that to .vob.
Then I tried VSO DivXtoDVD, and that did convert both DivX's to .vob files but the video quality was horrible, and the movie freezes where the first DivX file ends.
Could someone please help ?

.NRG is a Nero Image File, similar to .ISO (it is like you have, in Nero, the 'virtual image recorder' set as burner [or Nero made a CD-ROM image and you don't have a CD-Rom, but a DVD-ROM, in your burner,. Are you usure the .NRG is a DVD image? To be sure, 'mount' it (Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools) and look it]).
The .NRG file can be burned on a DVD (if it is a DVD image, of course) with Nero or any burning application which suports NRG images (like Alcohol 120%).
VirtualDub often gives this 'joining' arror, and says someting like 'Files A and B have different framerates', which sould be impossible , because the guy who made the AVIs used the same TV system, but I stil don't know why it makes so.

on step 5 http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd_page_5.cfm you author the dvd with IFO Edit, but if you use DVD lab you can make a single movie using movie1.m2v and movie2_48kHz.WAV + movie2.m2v and movie2_48kHz.WAV.
That is: encode the two pieces and join them only later. This way, you're sure the 2 pieces have the same characteristics, being two movies which you encoded using the very same settings.

I am currently using VSO DivXtoDVD. It truly is amazing. A "magic-bullet" to convert DivX & other AVI's to DVD format.
It could be improved, however. They could improve the preview functions so that you can have greater control of where the chapters go.

I don't quite understand what you mean ?
One thing I know, with ConvertXtoDVD, you can tell the software to make a chapters each 5 minutes, or each 8 minutes, you decide where you want to chapters to be !
Is this what you are talking about ?

you can even define the chapter whenever you want, one by one, but I guess what you mean and we will implement new way in the interface to edit chapters.

I use the feature that allows you to create chapters every X minutes (which I appreciate), but sometimes you want direct control over exactly where the chapters go.
While DivX may have the ability to do this, it does not seemed to be delibarately "aimed" in this direction. It felt non-intuitive when I was trying to figure it out. While manipulating the preview slide, I couldn't find a way to get frame-by-frame control. Maybe it was there, but I couldn't find it.

yes that's what it is planned, adding a small button to create a chapter from the slidebar, but it will be for the version 3, when these same chapters will be used as thumbnail for the menu.
you will have to be patient for this, it is not planned before several weeks.

DivxToDVD (first version) was free, second version is paid. WinAVI has a lot of control over the process. It allows to vary the chapters lenth, if that what one wants. There is more in the program than that. I use NERO7 Ultra for it allows 2 passes and a menu creation. It also does a better job in terms of audio-video sync.

I usually use Divx to dvd converter,it is Easier to use and faster than ever ,properties and settings are very easy to handle.the word is ''good''

However, as I briefly checked on the official VSO web site, it is not available anymore. It used to be free, as I mentioned before. I still have it and use it for a fast job. However, in some cases it has given me audio-video out of sinc problem.

VSO ConvertXtoDVD v2.0 has gone a long long way since
DivxToDVD v0.5.2 Freeware Preview version.
A full working demo (Adds a watermark to your video) is available on their website.

I just got that Vso ConvertXtoDVD program and I had one question. If add 2 AVI files of the same movie will it be made as one or what do I need to do to make it so it is only one. I am asking this because I didnt see this in the how to use guide for ConvertXtoDVD. Maybe I missedit but could some one please help me?

Hi there,
The current version (Maybe in the future, it's on user's wish list)
will not merge the 2 .AVI together.
It will become 2 movies/titles on the DVD.
You can make a menu with ConvertXtoDVD, so you would make it
Movie [ Part I ]
Movie [ Part II ]
Part I will play then Part II will continue !
