Hi I downloaded Rempeg as I need to get my dvd video from 5.2gb down to a size that will fit on a dvd-r ive already used ifo edit and this was the resulting size.

What are the settings i need to use and how do I get the resulting file back to .VOB's so that i can burn them.
Am i supposed to end up with 1 complete mpeg or 1 movie and 1 sound.
I have tried using the program using the subpicture resize tool option, and ended up with a file of 3.99gb that was not given any file extension but it did play in windows media player with a good picture and full. sound.

Ignore the first post.
Please can someone help me to use this program or tell me which other programs will encode my video to a lower bitrate. I thought I had sussed the program after but after another 8 hours of encoding it left me with a file thats apears useless again it has no file extension and will not play on media player or any other player.

Cobra2002,

I have only just started to use ReMPEG2, and found it to be quite good.

Basically, it creates a *.m2v file (after many hours of coding. This is just video only (no audio) it should play in Windows Media player.

Anyway, you the need to re-mux the *.m2v file using Ifoedit.

I have been very impressed withthe result so far.

It does help if you use a bit calculator as this will ensure that when you "re compress" (i.e. the scale factor)the file, you don't end up with a file that is still just to big for a DVD-5.

Leave most of the settings as defaults in ReMPEG2, although I do make sure that "Frame Mode" is set to "Match Mode" and not progressive.

Hope that helps.
