I AM NOT A NEWBIE AND HAVE TRIED SEVERAL METHODS. Please dont write me off i have checked every post already and NONE have worked to fix Gran turismo 4 or any dvd9 to dvd5.

I have tried both the official gt4 back up guide and this link on after dawn. Neither worked.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/275350

The gt4 back up guide and pss down actually got the furthest but it still freezes after the very first game screen, after the ps2 loading screen. It comes up sony Gt4 info screen then freezes black.

Now im using a magic 5 chip, maxell dvd-r, both have been used for many different burns and never has there been a problem.

Ive also tried dual layer discs and no luck but managed to waste 40 bucks in discs.

Now this link says to just bust the iso using iso buster then to rebuild the iso using iml and such. But at no point in this tutorial does it modify the video or pss files that are stored on the layer 2 or gt4vol1 file. So is that why nothing loads when i put it in the sony?

I cant see how these back ups would work when you are not even extracting the second layer of the disc? Doesnt that hold a lot of the info for the game?

With so many people on here that say they have successful copies i cant understand why none have worked. CAN ANYONE FIGURE THIS OUT?

HAVE TRIED:
DVD decryptor/apache both layers/extracted gt4vol1 using toxic gt4 tool/shrinking movie size(tried pss down and deleting uneeded files neither worked)/rebuild w dvd generator 1.5/iml2iso version 4/burn w decryptor

Please help, anyone have any other methods cause i give up. Dont want to waste any more dual layer discs. Please help me, ive been trying to crack this game for over about a year

If you have a modchip that supports dual layer backups.. you just use DVD Decrypter in iso read mode and then use iso write mode to burn the disc... in some cases you might have to use toxics dual layer patching program, depends on the modchip I think.

Here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/5/275350 - the method I provided works 100% and I can confirmed. Maybe you did something wrong along the way, you need to follow my guide very careful. I've already done 2 (actually 3 backups) using that method in combo with Sonix's Rip Tool v1.02 and it WORKED FLAWLESSLY. You'll need Sonix's GT4 DVD5 Ripper Tool v1.02 (including Apache 3 version 3), PSS Downsampling v1.01, Genie's IML2ISO v4, CD DVD GEN 1.5 and of course DVD Decrypter to rip and burn.

@3dluis

Hmmm... seriously, I can't comment on that simply because I don't have the version (MGS 2: SUBSTANCE) you have. However, you can try to use Sonix's PSS Downsampling Tool v1.01 or if you can find his older version to see if you can shrink some of the video or movie files just like it did with GT4. Hey, it won't hurt to give it a try you know.

Good luck!!

SUCCESS!!!!! THis method worked and i was up all night playing GT4 on a 4.7 gig disc. Thank you very much alkohol for the tutorial. Turns out on my previous attempts i didnt patch the rebuilt video file. Anyway is there any program for future reference that will split ANY video files up for shrinking?

Just curious so i can do dvd 9s in the future with this method. But you would have to find a program that extracts vol files. What program works for bulletproof?

Just curious guys, thanks again for the help it works GREAT!!!

You're welcome, glad I could help. Now you'll see that "my method" works 100% on GRAN TURISMO 4 and YES.... when I stated that it worked, then of course it will work.

In query to your question about 50CENT BULLETPROOF, all you need to do is follow my guide (on the very first page)and you'll have a successfully backup GUARANTEE to work, after rebuilding on a DVD-R or DVD+R (4.7GB) disc.

Good luck!!
