why wont a netgear wireless adapter work as an alternative to the microsoft wireless network adapter.............. can some one enlighten me please.... i could always take the xbox 360 upstairse and plug it in to the router but it means i canot play it on my hd tv down stairse bugger!!!!!!

Do you actually think microsoft would be able to get away with selling the new xbox 360 usb wireless adapter for 100 dollars if you could go down to any electronics store and purchase a pc adapter for half the price or less. They're already losing a good deal of money on every xbox 360 they sell. They make up for this loss by selling overpriced software and Peripherals. You can't install the PC software on your xbox 360 to support your Netgear wireless adapter.
The adapter they(MS) sell has built in support. Maybe someone will obtain the firmware of the MS adapter to flash on a non MS adapter some day.

Thanks for reply, the more i think about it, what you have said rings true it would be silly of (ms) to have enabled any networking adapter to work with the 360. i have plugged the 360 straight in to the router, it works fine and perfect dark zero is mint online carnt wait for the new ghost recon game !!!!!!!!! i think the quality of online play is far superior to the ps2 and was well worth the £410.00 for the xbox 360
