MPEG-4 to DVD with Nero

My camera records video in MPEG-4 format.
I want to save my videos on DVD or VCD to play on a stand alone DVD player.
Will Nero 6.6 do this for me?
If not will I be able to with Nero 7?
If OK will Nero allow me to put in menus and transition effects?
Thanks - I have spent ages searching the net - most people seem to want to convert to MPEG-4 not away from it!

for you to complete your project you will need an encoder that will convert from mpeg4 to mpeg2 as mpeg2 is the compatible format for dvd movie files which can be burnt to a dvdr disc and then played in your standalone dvd player.

This is my problem - I can only get the files in MPEG-4 format.
Can you suggest a good encoder?
Will changing to MPEG-2 reduce picture/sound quality or just make the file bigger?

What cam is it?
What is the extension of the mpeg-4 it records?
What type of media does it record to?

It's a Samsung V800. It saves digital pics and movies to SD card.
I'm fairly sure the extension of the files is .AVI but they are definately MPEG-4 (it says so on the cam and in the manual!)

I just want to collect the movies easily - preferably with a menu - onto VCD or DVD to play on ordinary DVD player. I can play them no probs on my computer but that is not what I want.

I would think nero vision express with nero 6.6 would work. Follow the sticky at the top of this fourm and replace vision from nero 7 in the guide with vision express from nero 6.6.

If it comes up saying you need a codec or something get gspot or avicodec and open the avi in there to get the real info from it.

a sticky is always there permanently where as questions move down the line when answered or new ones join the queue.See the top of the Nero forum, the ones that are highlighted in black, like forum rules etc

Many thanks - I have got it all to work using Nero 7 suite.

Now my trouble is I have a lot of camera hiss on the audio line. I can see that I can remove this from an audio file using the Nero suite but what about a movie file???

Will I have to switch to something like Magix Movie Edit Pro as that claims to clean up the noise in video files?

Audio hiss usely points to bad cable or connector one of the 2. You may be able to clean it up some but will most likely have to replace something before long.

I understand what you are saying but there is nothing professional about what I am doing.

The recording is all internal in the cam - the data is transferred via USB cable then its all internal in my PC.

Therefore I do not have any audio cables to upgrade.

Ahhh I see. So the hiss was actualy recorded at the time of recording with the cam? If that is the case and you do find a software solution let us know what it is.
