Hi, I just recently purchased a Xbox 360. Is it worth it for me to consider buying a small HDTV set for my bedroom just for the Xbox? I heard that smaller HDTV sets (26") don't produce as much noticeable quality (720p/1080i) picture than larger sets (40"+). Is this true? Should I wait until I have the money to spend on larger set. I am only considering buying a HDTV for the Xbox 360. I do not have HDTV as a part of my cable service, and don't plan on getting it anytime in the near future (otherwise I would automatically buy a larger HDTV set). Is the Xbox 360 lack of picture quality going to be very noticeable on a standard 480i television if I have never seen it on an HDTV set?
The HDTV I am considering is the Toshiba TheaterWide 26"

Also, should I consider waiting for a cheap 1080p set? I am planning on getting a Playstation 3 when it comes out also.
Thanks for help!

Yeah, I was thinking of buying that also. I looked all over the internet for the perfect HDTV to get, and that kept on coming up as the best pick. Your basically getting more for your money buying one of those.
However, that's a slightly older model, here's the newer one:

J & R Music and Computer World looks like the best price choice. However, the shipping pushes the price up to about $550, but it's still a great deal.

Well I think it all depends on your age and income. Now, you're probably like...that's a stupid response! But, if you truly don't have the money now and won't for a couple of years then that is a fine tv to buy. In addition, I had a 30 inch Samsung which isn't a whole lot different from the 26 inch and the picture was great. Plus, you can't beat the price on that tv. However, if you think you will have money in the NEAR future...then I suggest you wait and buy either an LCD or Plasma. Why you ask? Well for one...greater resell value if you want to ever upgrade. But, the main reason is that once you buy a good set you won't need one for a while and will have all the current bells and whistles ie. hdmi inputs, digital cable card, etc. One last thing, that 30 inch I was telling you about? It was a Samsung wide screen 30 inch HDTV that was in mint condition and I got at open box two years ago for $650...delivered!! Well anyway, I recently sold it for $200 cash...I'd say I got my money's worth.

Let's see...I'm 18, freshman in college, don't have a job at the moment, have enough money to buy a good 40" plasma, but that will leave me broke, and probably not a good idea to bring that into my dorm. So I'm looking into CRT's because they're cheaper. I will probably be going back to work in the summer, and then i can save a few more hundred dollars, but not much.
I'm always skeptical of buying open box products or refurbished. Do you think they are worth it?

depends where you get them, but alot of places offer the same warrenty on open stuff or just buy an extended protection plan, and you don't have to worry.

I have seen the VGA monitor hook-ups as well. The VGA monitor hook-up is only $30 and then you can use your computer monitor. Great alternative for those who cannot afford an HDTV.

As far as I know, yes. I believe that might be the best option for me, but I recommend getting a good quality VGA adapter instead of a cheaper one. Google it up to find some reviews, and find the right one for you.
