As I know, the Plextor Double Layer DVD Burner is the best out there. I'm looking for the 8MB buffer instead of 2MB. But they are really expensive. Any Plextor DVD Burner is over $99.

If you know which brand of DVD burner has 8MB buffer and cheaper, or you know other brand is better than Plextor and cheaper, or you have some common, please post them here.

The Plextor may have been the best drive out there a year or two ago but they have been outsourcing their new drives to BenQ, so the new Plextor 740 is really a BenQ 1640 rebadged. You can probaqbly buy this drive for about 50.00USD

Really, I did not know that. Thank you.

Yes, I see BenQ is very cheap. Do you know why? Meanwhile Plextor is too expensive. I though BenQ is a new suck brand like Emprex, PDC, Hammer, etc...

So is BenQ reliable DVD burner like Plextor?

Benq is definitely NOT a "new suck" brand as you call it~ :) i have friends with older Benqs for over 3 years now and they are STILL going strong...

i also have the Benq 1640, it is a terrific burner and it's very well built and high quality...i have been very pleased with my purchase of the Benq...i'm waiting for the Benq dw-1650, but until then, my 1640 will suffice~ :)

p.s. and NO i do NOT want the 1655 lightscribe model, yes i know it's available...blah blah blah...i want a PURE burning drive, lightscribe is not necessary at this point in time for ME.

Hmm, well, I get to try one. Do they sell at local store?

Where is the cheapest one for BenQ dw-1650 and dw-1655?

Does anyone know about BenQ DW822A? Is it an old model? But it has 8MB buffer which is great.
