Hi,
I have had a look round on the forums but can't seem to find any information on this. Can anyone help.
I basically downloaded a game which came in the format of a winrar file - which then contained several other winrar files. 001,002,003.
( I have already read about how to extract this)
When extracting, it doesn't give me the average .iso file, but instead gives me the files/folders of a ps2 game... i.e...the system file etc.....
Having burned these files onto a dvd using Nero as a data disc it doesn't actually work on the ps2 and comes up with invalid ps2 disc.
This is obviously after putting the swapmagic disc in first etc...and then swapping.
I know I am doing something wrong here and would like some advice if possible.
Should I not be burning it as a data disc? Is there another way of buring these files if they don't show up as an image (.iso)?
Any help will be appreciated.

Ok, well normally you have the many rar files first..001,002 etc.. then you have one big file which is extracted from them which is the iso, but can sometimes show up under windows as another rar file.. it's that one that you want to burn (usually anywhere between 1.2GB and 4.3GB) using DVD Decrypter in iso write mode, or use neros "burn image to disc" option.

Thanks for your reply.
There didn't seem to be a large WinRAR in the archive, as they were all the same size.
Once I had extracted the one WinRAR file .001(which I am pretty sure extracts the whole thing), the total size of the data disc that I was burning was about 3.7GB.
So what I should in fact do is actually extract the larger WinRAR file in the archive which should then give me .iso image?
I will check this out tonight.
Thanks

No, maybe I'm not making this clear???
when you downloaded you got a lot of smallish rar files like you said.. and after extracting from file .001 you should end up with one large file.. that is the iso.
You don't burn it as a data disc either - you need to use the image burning program, or dvd decrypter to burn that large iso file.. it won't wrok if you burn it as a data disc!!!

No I didnt get an .iso file once I had extracted the .001 file.
When I click on the .001 it starts to think and collates all the information from the other rar files. This then opens up another WinRAR screen eventually showing all the file that you would find on a normal ps2 disc.
I then extracts these to a folder on my hard drive.
I don't get an .iso file at all during the process.
I have d/l 4 games so far and each of them has done the same thing and been extracted to folders but no .iso image.
They have been given good reviews as well, so it must be something that I am doing wrong.

In that case you'll have to ask some nice person for a list of the order which the files should be burned.. and rebuild those files to an iso using cd/dvd gen.. or Nero burning rom udf/iso option and drop the files into the program in that order.

Thanks for your help Paddymail.
Anybody know in what order files should be burned? Is is differently done depending on the game?
And how do you get Nero udf/iso option to recognise files in a certain order as currently when I drag and drop they just appear alphabetically?
Thanks for your help and time.

No worries..
Yes it is different for every game, and most games have very different files too. You'll have to metion what game it is obviously, so that someone can give you the file list :) you haven't mentioned what game anywhere in this thread yet.
In Nero udf/iso option it just shows the alphabetical order, but will actually burn them in the order you drop them in there.

Paddymail,
That worked great thanks. I tried Call of Duty and it worked great. Dragged and dropped the files into Nero udf/iso option.
First time when burning to disc it froze up 79%.
Second time I got the image onto the c: drive first and then using 'burn image in nero', burnt it onto the disc.
Worked great in ps2, no freezing at all. Only downside was that it was in French...hehe :-)
Thanks for your help on that Paddymail.
Is there a comprehensive list somewhere for games on what files should be dragged and dropped onto Nero udf/iso mode?

No not as far as I know... to be honest you must be doing something wrong if you're getting the fiels instead of an iso in the first place.. next time you download follow the guide exacly and you should get an iso, if not then backtrack to where there's one big file that you get from the multiple rar files and burn that file with the image burning program.
glad it worked for you :)

Hi Paddymail,
It was something I was doing wrong after all. Without knowing, when intially setting up WinRAR, it was setup to recognise .iso files. In addition to this , my file system was setup to hide extensions of known file formats.
So when I was unraring the multiple rar files and then getting one big one rar file, it didn't show up as an .iso file and I assumed that it was another normal WinRAR file.
Tried burning that .iso file and it worked great. Thanks for your help again.
Silly user error on my behalf.

No worries.. as I said in my first post to you, i thought that was what had happened to you.
There are a few people that have had that problem before.
Glad you got it sorted :)

hi there everyone, I'm new here as a regstered user, but I've been burning ps2 games for a while now, just a little observation, from every single game that i downloaded the rar file that had to be opened to extract the iso was a .000 maybe is just that or I ended up with all strange cases.
Now the world is all gone I'm just one

Haven't really noticed that myself, but I normally open the 1st .000,001 on the list as well.
Thinking about it, i don't think it should make a difference which rar file is opened.
I will test this out anyhow.

At what point does it freeze? Is it while you are burning it?

@Sobhy2406 - Are you using a modchip or swap magic to boot your ps2 games? Mine works fine with swap magic 3.6
What discs do you use by the way?
I've heard a few people have had problems with this game if they have a modchip - but then some people with modchips say it works ok. Guess it depends on the modchip, the ones that are having troubles have mostly been DMS4 chips, and the one I know of that has got this working has a matrix infinity chip.
