Hello,
What versions do you use?
Version 0.5.2
http://www.vso-software.fr/download.htm
There is a new version 0.5.2b. I am not sure about the differences.
If you do search on AfterDawn you will find a guide for 0.5.2b version. It is basically the same for both the versions. Sorry, I checked my link, but it was wrong. I have the file only.
Good luck!

Hello,
Uninstall it, reboot your PC, install it back, reboot your PC. Try if it works.

Hello Andmerr,
Though I have been using free version for a long time, I have never yet had this sort of problem. Are you sure that paid version will fix it?
As for me, I use a number of converters, for one or two might not work, for almost every file is different.

i had a problem with the free version, kept coming up with 'can not find a suitable decoder' and thus kept failing. The newer paid version didnt have this problem.
You could pm cougar and ask him, as he is a beta tester for them

Hello Andmerr.
Sounds good enough for me. In fact, new version has much more to offer, like 2 passes option. You know it better than I do. I like Nero and WinAVI. Both paid though. Nero allows to make a real DVD with Menu and chapters.

avi2dvd is really good to add subtitles but i find it pales in comparison with vso's DivX to dvd as an encoder

Hey andmerr,
Here's a little scoop !
The next release of DivXtoDVD (Currently ßeta now) will/should support .idx/.sub subtitle files.
v1.99.24 only support .srt
I still haven't got to test the new engine with .idx/.sub but I will try this week.
The encoder/decoder engine has been re-written 100% and when used in High Quality, the output files are about twice the size of what v1.99.24 gave me sometimes (Depends on what input files are used).
So quality will be enhanced, once it's officialy released, I want "The Film Machine" with CCE users to compare the new engine.

I agree,
It is probably the fastest and easiest to use converter. Second version (paid, though) allows 2 passes. Would love to try it...
