Hello,

I tried to burn a session onto a DVD and continue it now. But I get the error --This disk is not writable, please try another one--

The DVD writer, which I just bought, is EMPREX DVD-Dual, and supports DVD+-R/RW. The disks I'm using are (don't remember the brand) DVD-R.

I can read the DVD normally, just not add a session.

Does anyone have an idea why this is, how I can avoid it, or even fix it?

Oh I forgot: I selected "Start Multisession" when I first burned it.

You need to buy DVD-RW's.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Let's have the "very last section" from your Nero logs. To get your log go here; C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory for Nero 6. Now remember to "delete" or "edit" your Nero serial before you're going to post back here.

Below is an example from a successful burned log of mine.

thanks for the offer to help. Here is the log. I did notice that it says
Quote:
Finalize CD = TRUE
which sounds a bit strange, but then Multisession is true as well...

thanks again

I think i see your biggest problem here

Physical memory : 127MB (130544kB)
Free physical memory: 34MB (35408kB)
you dont have enough memory. 512mb is the minimum needed in most cases to burn/rip DVDs. Nothing much else in the log matters until you get more memory. If you have 256mb you would still have problems, but might make it.

until you get things straightened out, stick to 4x burn speed.
Some ppl have problems with TDK media, so try some good media like Verbatims, Sony, Maxell, Fuji, last 3 MIJ. (made in Japan)

It could be that crappy TDK media that you are using. Your burner doens't like it.

And TheDookie what makes you think that?

I thought memory was a problem, but only reading around did I realise of likely it is that DVD burning fails. Thanks for all the answers nonetheless. Might be time for a new computer.

Memory is a problem. YOu only have 128 to begin with and with just basic os it's already down to 34MB. That is a HUGE problem. Most will tell you taht 512 is minumum needed for DVD burning.

Just so we're clear, memory is RAM not HD space.
