cyclic redundancy error (??)

Hey gang,

Im getting a cyclic redundancy error when I try to backup my Star Wars ep IV DVD. I tried files and ISO, both get the srror.

Let me know if any of you know what this is or how to get around it.

This usually means a "bad" disc, i.e., dirty, smudged, scratched or perhaps a bad press..

I just did that one last week. It's an older flick,so encryption should not contribute to that crc error.

The newer sony Arccos encryption will give DVD Shrink that crc error. AnyDVD will help shrink out on those encryptions.

Clean that disc well,look for defects like heavy scratches/fingerprints. Sometimes bum pressed discs get out.If it's scratched and still giving that crc error,take it to a Blockbuster or other big video store and get it re-surfaced.
