OK, before I start I want to say I hate posting this because I have read all the sticky information but I think I've exhausted all the information I can find.
I've been trying to burn a few backups of games, like Final Fantasy X, that I have.
So far I have been unable to see anything but SwapMagic report that every disc I put in the PS2 is "not a valid PS2 disc". I have tried TDK DVD-Rs, Memorex DVD+Rs, PIOData DVD+RWs, Sony DVD-Rs.. all of them either 8x or better, always recorded at half speed (4x or less).
SwapMagic boots fine and allows me to open the drive to put in anything else. I tried the CDLoader application downloaded and burned to CD but even that states its invalid.
I've been around on Swapmagicfix.com but I dont really get that stuff yet. I've also downloaded a few ISOs that I hoped might already be patched or whatever process it is to get them ready (like RE4 in DVD5 format or DQ8). I've tried each of these on each media in different speeds, but now it just feels like I'm wasting spindles of DVDs.
So if you guys have any ideas on things I might have missed, any help would be much appreciated.
you are wasting way too much money.look at what you are buying!memorex is wun of the worst,-rw is a no-no,DVD+R is a no way.buy taiyo yuden or maxell DVD-R.if using swap magic you need flip top or slide card.best site to get that is clearxbox.com
Wow sly... youre right. I never read that URL thanks!
of course when I finally did it right the PS2 went from green to orange to off... and now it wont power back up. Guess I'll be taking it apart again tomorrow to see what I blew up :D
looks like I may have toasted it :) Powerswitch makes a cute little squeek when flipped but nothing else happens. Guess I should look for a new power supply on ebay. Any recommendations?
I to would've just went with the Fliptop/Swapmagic combo from Clearxbox.com ... Why buy a chip when you can just use a fliptop if you're going to swap discs anyhow....
Yeah, I couldn't really get that either... unless you've had the eject chip(for want of a better way of describing it) for a long time. I mean if you're gonna open your case anyway, might as well get a modchip or a fliptop.
Hope you get it sorted mate
Aye... I didnt know any better. I just figured a chip was always better than a case mod, seemed like one step above shoving a butterknife in the drive?
