I have a great problem; I tried today to convert an avi file to vob in order to burn them on a DVD using Nero Vision Express. It worked fine and I managed to burn the DVD, however, as I watched it on my player I noticed that Nero cropped the image, which means that the image is "cut". I am now not able to read the subtitles that were on the video. Did someone noticed that probleme before? How can I fix that? Or do I need a new program? Any help is greatly appreciated!
I have had the same problem with Nero vision.My answer was to convert the file to .VOB first using WinAvi Video converter {its way faster}then inspect the the movie when its finished converting.If all is well, burn the .VOB files with Nero vision with the "make your own dvd" option .Then just add the files and burn.
After reading all the guides and threads, I'm getting really frustrated with TMPGEnc. I run the program GSpot on the AVI file, installed XviD. Still says that the file is unsupported. Today I downloaded Virtual Dub, but it says that it couldn't locate decompressor for format XviD (unknown). So what am I doing wrong? It really gets me frustrated to the point that I wanna quit burning my favorite animes on DVD. I just don't understand why it is so difficult to get these AVI files on DVD without the "chopped image" effect. I think that it is way better to buy the HK DVDs on ebay, saves a lot of time (and nerves)
I am just wondering how you guys think about all that burning stuff. Doesn't it bother you to use all these programs, face many problems and wait a LONG time to compress your files?
WinAvi can convert an entire movie at about 36 frames per sec.which is faster then real time.TMPEG encoder takes much longer but you have more options to allow better quality.If the source file is of good quality you will achieve good results. After converting with WinAvi, My movie actually looked better. Its a simple interface thats very easy to use
Thanks for your replies, but I need a program that allows me to resize the image; after I burned my AVI file with Nero Vision Express, I realised that the image was cropped and I couldn't see the subtitles. I was told to use TMPGEnc. Does WinAvi have that feature?
unless you are using a program like pinnacle studios I dont think you can actually crop the images other then forcing widescreen which will stretch then image to appear widescreen.Usually after converting to mpeg2 [dvd] with one of the many programs available out there you can just add the files to whatever burning program you are using and the file will appear as originally what you started with
