ratDVD version 0.78.1444
MPC (Media Player Classic) version 6.4.8.6
WinXP SP1
Upon opening a .ratDVD file with MPC I get the error message: "Unable to create DVD Navigator filter". BSPlayer and WMP10 both open the file but only the opening audio of the menu plays. Real DVDs work.
Actually, I don't really care about WMP and BSPlayer or others, I prefer to play all videos with MPC.
I re-registered the qdvd.dll (DVD Navigator) filter, but it didn't do any good.
Not to be rude but obviously you don't use search or look in the forum before posting. Just check out the link in my signature for a thread that details on how to get ratDVD files playing.
Well, I did a search on this error message and found none. I also did read the ratDVD playback solution (try this before posting!) thread and decided it wasn't the right solution for me. First of all, for my own reasons, I dislike and won't ever install any codec packs and this makes it quite hard to follow the instructions. Second, I think the description 'not working' is too vague and I won't kill all codecs on my PC (and there're a lot of 'em) just to make that one newcomer work. I still hope that there exists a more specific solution to this specific error.
Well, instead of installing a whole bunch of useless codecs, I instead just went to www.filehippo.com typed in "ratdvd" and downloaded the oldest version I could find(displayed in the right hand corner of the "ratdvd" screen. Then I played the file; No luck; Went on to the next version, intalled, and worked. I say just install the old versions of ratDVD untill your file works. Good luck.

I also tried to download earlier versions of ratDVD but I was having the same issue with MPC ("Unable to create DVD Navigator filter").
Then I FINALLY found out how to fix this issue!!
Don't need an earlier version of ratDVD.
Just get the lastest version (even though this will work with older versions) and during the installation select "GPL Navigation Code".
I was usually keeping only the "Main Program" selected, that's why playback of ratDVD files didn't work.
I un-installed and re-installed ratDVD several times with different settings to confirm this.
