I already have a radeon 9200 se 128mb video card and i was wondering what will the difference be if i was to install a 256mb video card, What would be some of the features that i would gain and what other benefits are the in upgrading a video card from 128 to 256

Memory size is only one of the many things to condsider when buying a video card. There are more important things like memory speed, pipelines, fill rate, and directX version just to name a few. Its better to have 128MB of fast memory than 256MB of slow memory, so it really depends on how much money you are willing to dish out for a video card. Each GPU has their own ups and downs. Theres really old and crappy 256MB video cards and theres of course newer 256MB video cards. If you give me the amount you are willing to spend I could recommend the best card for the money.

Hi,
I have about £60 GBP to spend on a card. I just bought a peak geforce LE card, but only getting 5 fps on the first 3dmark05 demo.
The prog shut down before it could finish. I can take it back (the card) as I konw the guy who owns the shop if you could suggest a better one.
Or if you could tell me how to optimise it. I have an

damn u need to get a better money input for graphics card with that system, even tho x800gto2 is probley the best bang for money but just over 200, the x700 in meant to be quite good, if u wanted to skrimp then the 9600xt would be a little better than the one u have now but not a lot, technology has really moved on.

I need to know the chipset of your video card...like 6600GT, 6800...or whatever it is. GeForce is the manufacturer and LE is just a model extension, so you should find out the exact model.
As for 3DMark05, 5 fps isn't exactly horrible. Remember that the program stresses the limits of your video card, so its not supposed to be at much higher framerates than that. Two 7800GTX's running in SLI(on my friends system) only run at about 30FPS on that program :)
$106 will not get you a very good video card, but I live here in the U.S. and don't know the prices where you live so...you'll have to trust the shop owner. Tell me the model number he recommends and I'll tell you if it'a good deal or not :)

Yeah sorry.
Its a 6600 LE 256 mb.
I don't really play a lot of games, but would like to be able to with my system as good as it should be.
But then I don't wanna pay too much either. If my card is as good as I'm gonna get for this money then thats fine. I just would like to play some stuff if I wanted.
I have an xbox (Permenatley running Halo 2 mind, occasionally forza) and a psp for on the go, gonna get a 360 soon mind)
Got the 3dmark05 to run the full test and got 1300 or something. Was hoping for more, but then maybe if I ran 03 or even 01 I would feel better. lol

I see. I was going to recommend the 6600GT 128MB GDDR3. Same series, but the 6600GT has some serious advantages over the 6600, making it a way better video card. The 6600GT doesnt cost much more than the 6600LE, if you could take it back and get a 6600GT, that would be very wise :)

Okay, I got the LE cause thats all he had but I'll see about the GT then.
The problem was I had originally bought an AGP card but my mobo never supported it. And because my mobo doesn't have access for the monitor, I needed a card asap so I could get my pc up and running.
I read somewhere it might be possible to "mod" my card into a GT. Is this bs?

yeah probably unlocking pipelines and/or flashing the BIOS and/or overclocking clock speeds. The problem is it takes a long time, can damage your hardware and it will Overheat a lot in which case you would need yo spend extra bucks on an another heatsink and fan anyways, so it's just better to trade that 6600LE for a GT if possible

I have a Thermaltake Tsunami case, Thermaltake pure power psu and Thermaltake golden orb hsf. I've spent the money on cooling already as I was planning on overclocking my cpu anyway.
Can anyone suggest any good sites for tutorials on overclocking?
Both graphics cards and cpu's?
