Different generations of Xbox 360?

I have heard that there is now a 2nd generation of the Xbox 360. It has all the kinks worked out that the 1st generation had. Does anyone know how to tell the difference? I just bought a 360 off ebay and am curious to know if it is the newer generation or not. Thanks!

You can find out (i think) what version it is from the Xbox Dashboard. You go to the system section and it's in that menu - it says current version or something like that. It's just a load of numbers though, e.g. 2.012.120

Maybe the first number is the version your running?

actually I'm sure that those are just BIOS/Kernal versions, and i think I read somewhere that the BIOS can be updated via Live, meaning that w/e number is there doesn't mean much, less you can't connect to live or some shit like that, but when they talk about 2nd generation 360s, i'd be more likly to think about hardware changes and not sftware differences, also if your real curious about whats goin on with xbox related items, i suggest stay tuned to www.xbox-scene.com as if there is actuall hardware changes it should show up there fairly quick, tho some differnces in hardware were noticed at Launch, like some machines have a TSOP and Others don't, and those that have them still run after they are removed?
