I've been able to correct almost everything just by using your search function. This one I can't. If anyone has time could you please take a look at the log and see if it's just media. I've had the problem with Sony discs as well. It usualy happens near the end of a movie.
Here's the last log.

2 dont write 4482 on the disk Try setting it to like 4400 or maybe even 4350.

Thanks, I had it set to write up tp 4300mb. This issue just started with the last few burns. I guess if everything else looks good I'll just change media. The first half of the spidle worked fine. It's been frustrating lately. I had a problem with the secondary ide channel & ever since hp support had me delete it then re-install the problems has cropped up.
Thanks Again!

Ran DVD identifier. Here's the log.
Same results from Nero.

Manufacturer ID : [YUDEN000]
Media Type ID : [T02]
Product Revision : [Not Specified]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2,295,104 Sectors = 4.70 GB (4.38 GiB)]
Recording Speeds : [1x-2.4x , 4x , 6x-8x]

This is from the burn posted here. Burned at 4x no bigger than 4300 mb. Still skipping at approx 70% I thought that this Taiyo Yuden media was supposed to be pretty good. Everything had been fine until recently. It's happening with Every Burn. Is there anything else that I need to look for? Thanks for taking the time to help! Mt "coaster" collection is getting bigger all the time. Thanks again.

Stand alone only. I had done several burns with no problem. This has just started recently. I have tried them on other players, same deal.

Did hp have you initalize live update or whatever they call there app that keeps a lookout for updates to the comp. It sounds like some process is runing that is causing write errors during the burn. Google for enditall2 and run it to kill background processes right before the burn. If that makes the burn good then you will need to track down what process is causing the problem.

No they didn't have me do anything with live update. They did have me re-flash the bios along with re-instaling the secondary ide controller. When I get home I'll look for enditall2 tonight. I also have Sonic installed. (have never used it) Do you think that might be part of it? OK here you go. Sonic & installshield are scheduled to update on a weekly basis. Sonic updated about the same time as problems started. I have disabled both updates. I have read horror stories about how tough it is to get rid of sonic. Would you suggest that I do so?

Task manager would show if it is runing. Add/remove programs should have it listed as well.

ok, here's what is in add and remove software.
1. Sonic Audio Module.
2. Sonic Copy Module.
3. Sonic data Module.
4. Sonic express labeler
5. Sonic My DVD Plus
6. Sonic Update manager
I have seen something running in task manager called "burn watcher" I believe it was Sonic related.

Sometimes it is hiden under hp record now or my hp apps of whatever name they use at the time. It is a sonic product but sometimes hp brands it hp. On my wifes I got rid of all of sonic because she never used it after I got her acuainted with Nero.

All Sonic stuff including registry is blown out. I'll try one tonight and post back in the morning. In the Nero log it makes reference to PXHELP20.SYS under drivers did a search and that's sonic related. Home it works will try tonight. Once again THANKS!

That is a sonic or veritas driver but dont attempt to get rid of it unless you are sure you dont run other apps that it is a part of. I know it is a part of winamp and think I remember it is a part of adobe expressions. Probably other apps use it as well. Thats the thing with drivers for burning engines you never know what company just pays for the rights to another company instead of attempting to produce there own.
