Opening NeroVision Express 3, I choose "Make a DVD" and from the pop out box I choose "DVD-Video."

Then I click "Add Video Files" and choose the files I want to add (I've tried add them all at once and also one at a time). Each time I choose a file/files, NeroVision Express 3 completely shuts down...disappears completely and not just minimizes.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nero Express Suite to no avail. My system information is as follows:

Win 98
AMD K62 400
64 mb RAM
40G Hard drive
Brand new DVD burner
Existing CD burner

I guess I'm hoping someone out there has had this problem and knows why this could be happening, and knows how to fix it. I thank you in advance.

Mate, it's about time you do yourself a favour...

Retire the tank...

64Mb won't even run the burner...

Sorry for the bad news...

If it ain't broken it doesn't need fixing...

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. However, I've already burned a Data DVD with Nero, but burning those probably takes less system resources than burning video DVDs. I've got someone on the lookout for more RAM for me and I hope that helps, since I'm not really in a position to upgrade to a better computer right now. But yeah, 'tank' is a pretty apt description for 'this ole thing.' LOL

Thanks for the response. I appreciate it.

I also have had this happen. It was not due to my RAM. My situation seemed to be centered on the fact I was trying to burn two different types of files. I had been intermixing AVI and MPEG. Once I converted all of my AVI files to MPEG. No Problem.

To be realistic you need at least 512Mb of RAM. The burner alone will take about 128Mb, not to mention the O/S. Win XP will take another 128Mb... Not only that, you will also need about 9Gb spare in your HDD for the job, but you should always keep at least 30% free so it runs smooth... These are minimum numbers mind... If you have to do a D/L DVD then... You get the picture.

I only have 64mb of RAM and I have already burned something, so the burner is functioning without using 128mb of RAM when burning just a data DVD. I do have plenty spare HD space, as not much of the 40G has been used.

That's interesting. I'm trying to burn .wmv's, but I can't even get to the part where the burning starts. The program is shutting down after I choose which files I want to use. Someone I know who uses Nero, burns this way all the time...apparently Nero converts the .wmv's as it burns. I had downloaded a program to convert files to mpeg (Blaze) before I was told it wasn't necessary. NeroVision Express converts as it burns. I just can't seem to get that far.

I'm inclined to think that burning the data DVD did not require as much RAM as the part of the program that works with and burns videos. I'll have to check with that friend I know, and a few others to see how much RAM they are working with. I'm thinking that's my problem, that the program requires more RAM than I have to work with those video files.

I have someone looking for more RAM for me, used of course because of my system's age. Hopefully, once I upgrade that a bit, it will let me edit video files and burn them.

Thanks very much to both of you for your advise.

That's what i mean. Burning data and movies is completely diferent. Your system shuts down when it reaches the top when you try burning movies.

Nero Vision Express is a very good tool, very user friendly, i used it all the time up until now. (Now i use The Film Machine paired with Cinema Craft Encoder for an experience.)
