Anyone else having any audio issues with their Xbox 360?

Mine suffers from occasional dropouts and I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that my regular optical cable doesn't "snap" into place on the cable port. It's sporadic at best, but I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue.

Running through a Sony receiver.

Hi, I am having audio problems too. I have the optical audio out from the 360 to my Panasonic stereo receiver (which btw worked fine with the original xbox HD hookup). But I am only hearing the lows (bass) thru the subwoofer. I monkey w/ the audio settings on the receiver and the best I can do is get the rear speakers sound when trying to stream and play music. I also have the basic composite audio (L & R) going into the TV along w/ the component HD wires. wonder if that makes a diff. it shouldn't. ??

it is because you are using a stereo receiver not a dolby digital decoder which is required for the xbox 360 to do surround sound

Same deal, it's a 5.1 HT receiver. Problem still occurs whether I set it to Auto decode or 5.1 manually.

im having huge sound problems with my 360. in 4 out of 5 games, the sound is distorted. there is alot of static. (btw the game that works is pgr). I have tried fooling with the audio settings, and i have tried using both optical and analog cables. makes absolutely no difference.

called MS and they said i had to ship the 360 back to them and i have to pay for the shipping. This is after me paying $900 on this 360. I am a huge xbox fan, but if they don't resolve this issue quickly, i am deeply ashamed to say that MS will have lost a fan.

well, my deal was quite silly. apparently, on my Yamaha receiver, there is a Speaker A/B/Off toggle button and I had to set it to B. and then I got full sound no problem. strange. I guess maybe I should've read the manual on the receiver. <laugh>

No problems what so ever. Xbox is hooked to my dvd-player which has 5.1 surround system.
