I am a complete novice with computers really as i have only been using them for the past 4 months. I got this azureus thingy to help downloading and all that stuff so i have just down loaded a doors album. question: why the hell did it take 5 hours to download????. anyone know?. i have windows xp, and not the standard windows firewall am using norton anti virus and when i hold me cursor over the yellow face on the torrent page of me azureus i am getting that i may have a NAT problem and that i may not have any remote connection. can anyone shed any light on this little problem of mine if so you are the best, yeahh, and it would be very much appreciated.
firstly do you know what port you are using on AZ ? is it default or have you changed it ?
if you haven changed it go (in your client to) Tools >config wizard and click next til you see the port option , you should type aport num in over 5000 eg/ 52366 then click test
are you using a public or private tracker ? if public pm me and i'll sort you a private one out :)
hi there celtic 1!!
thanks for getting back to me much appreciated you surely r the best! lol. well i have done what you said and i believe that i may be using the default port. i did go into the port option in config wizard and did what you said and typed in a number over 5000 and tested it and still came up NAT error. also i do not know wether i am using a private or public tracker but i would guess it would be public ( how would i find out???). also my connection speed is 2 gig i believe. thanks once again celtic 1. and happy days to ya.
Private tracker is a site which has limited amount users , ie/ you have to sign up and get conformation email .
Public tracker is one you just dl off no need to reg (only reg with some)
You sure your connection is 2gig ? or do you mean 2meg ? (this i think lol )
You try a port num over 50000 ? (my mistake i only put 5000 typo:) )
Do you have a router by any chance ? If so you neeed to forward the ports , this link should help
sorry to take such a long time to reply to the thread, but have been away with work for a month or so.
just to say thanks to you celtic1 for taking the time out to help!. i looked at the port forward site you gave me and that came in real handy and learnt quite a bit about NAT and also a lot more about IP addresses and all the rest of it aswell. came in real handy, deffo.
top man, celtic1. and thankc again!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
