Power DVD and Windows 2000/XP region set

Something that might interest some people:

Power DVD, as many other programs, store his region (and times left to change it), uncrypted in registry file.

So, if you want to change the region of Power DVD, simple do it with regedit.exe, changing the value of 'RCD' key in folowing registry path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CyberLink\PowerDVD

Note that the 'RCD_Ns' key stores the number of changes left. It cannot be greater than 4. Change it at your will, and many times you want!

But some programs (like media player and real one player) use the windows system region to determine if they can play a DVD disc.

The windows 2000/XP region information is stored in the first folder in this registry path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft

it might be something trucate, like ' `a|q`0 '. Simply delete this entire folder and reboot your computer, and windows will asume as your region, the region of the first DVD disc you insert after that.

You can do it as many times you want.

I may well check that out at some point after reading a few more posts on this matter.
I have a RPC1 set Pioneer DVD-RW and I didn't know this hardware came as it did or I might well have waited & bought the Sony DRU500 or whatever it is... the DVD-RW/+RW drive anyway.
