I have a high speed connection, yet bit torrent gives me slow download speeds. Always around 10 Kb.

I tried port triggering (forwading), but it doesn't seem to work. Here's an image of what my config page looks like. Any help with getting the speed increased with bit torrent would be much appreciated.

Please let me know what is wrong, and how to fix the speed. Thanks.

Thanks for replying.

Currently my upload is on 4 so it's low, and download is full. Still no change in speed though.

By the way, I'm using Bit Torrent 4.2.2 as client and on the top right it says I'm firewalled/NATted. I have Windows XP firewall off though.

Please help.

Try using Bitcomet. And add the ports 6881-6889 TCP/UDP in both your router configuration and your firewall.

OK, do not just set ur u/l to 4-5 as my friend stated to u earlier:

~*~ http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/286791 ~*~

As for ur d/l speeds dont set it to maximum. Set it to what ur internet connection allows u. Test ur connection speed here:

Dont use ports 6881-6889 for ur client or firewall as it is blacklisted by ALL trackers. Use something between 50000-60000.

As for ur router, I dont use one but its very important they get forwarded/opened for ur max speeds. Here are a few links/threads to help u w/ ur router configuration:

Thanks for you reply.

I did all of what you said, and yet the speeds hardly increase. I do remember when I first started downloading via bit torrent which was like a week ago, I was getting speeds of 220+ kb, but now I hardly get 20 kb.

What can be wrong?

Does ur isp throttle/cap BitTorrents?. Also if u use a router its probably most of ur problems, u need to make sure they are forwarded correctly.

No sig for u!.

Thanks for your reply.

I've just switched over to Azureus, set the listening to port something higher, and the speeds are coming down fine.

Thanks for all the help. If there's other tips and tricks regarding getting better speeds on the Azureus client, please share the links here.

Much appreciated.
