My computer will supposedly burn with either -R/+R discs. I haven't had much burning success with the +R's. My question is if someone else's computer only uses +R to burn with can they reburn a disc that was burned with -R? Is there a guide to burn DVD's from a VHS tape? I thought I saw it, but now I can't relocate it.

Cheers

The only way to know for sure is to try to read a -R disc on a +R burner. It should read it OK. If you can get the disc to read in the system, then you can copy it. I don't remember seeing a guide for VHS to DVD burning, but i wasn't looking for that either. I gave up on VHS. Did some converting, but it is much better to get a DVD than a VHS copied to DVD. VHS looks like watching a movie under water. No where near the resolution you get on a regular DVD, and the audio sux on VHS. Better than nothing if it is something irreplaceable. You can use a cheap standalone DVD recorder like a cyberhome to do the VHS to DVD thing. On a computer you would need a video capture card to import the VHS tapes to you HD.

Thanks for the tips, I will try that out on the copying but I think I am gonna forego the VHS route and leave it be. Again, thanks a million.

Your welcome. I gave up on VHS, and i think DVD is much better. Now ive been throwing away old VHS tapes as they are bulky and old, and very old school tech. Now we have faster, better, cheaper stuff. :)
