hello all,
I am experiencing what I beleive to be very slow downloads. I run 2 FTP servers about 150 miles apart. Now server A can download from server B at about the rate of 49.99KB/s and server B can download from server A at a rate of only 29.0 KB/s. These are both on Cable connections server A is Charter and Server B is Warner. I did a speed test on both and they say they are up to par. I usually am transferring files larger than 9GB on a very regular basis. I dont ever remember even a 5GB file download ever taking longer than what seems forever, usually 5 or so hours ( I never stick around to watch) maybe longer. Now correct me if I am wrong but how long should a 9GB transfer take, 2-3 hours? I had switched server B over to a wireless router and currently only has 3 other computers connected to it, one wireless 2 hardlined. Server A is wired directly to its modem. Now I did try and use server B with all other computers off and disconnected and I still got the same results. Is there something I am missing, or a setting wrong? Do routers slow you down that much even though its hard lined?
