Help every so often my compooty keeps crashing mor often than not. After the initial crash it's fine and i have no more problems untill I restart, and 5 minutes later (approx.)it'll crash this is the message.
any help would be appreciated.

if this is only a recent problem you could try a system restore to a point when the comp was working normally

I had a similar problem in that my PC would work fine for hours until I played one of two games (all others seem fine) and then it would reboot without warning. I?ve looked at other forums and although there are plenty suggestions, no one seems to have a clue how to fit it. I?ve heard everything from clean fans, reinstall XP, Driver updates and numerous other solutions. As usual there is virtually no help identifying the errors from Microsoft. (They probably don?t know themselves)
Anyway I think I fixed it yesterday with a video driver update. Seems like an old Win2K driver was installed instead of an XP one. Give it a try see if it helps.
Incidentally someone on another forum replied to one poor guy that lost all his work files, ?serves you right for using pirated software?? Anyone here know what he?s talking about?
[Above I stated the problem is only with 2 games and all others seem fine. Both are DVD games and both reboot system after about 20-30 mins]

Most common problem people run through in your situation is Heat. If your PC is able to run temp programs, run it and see what your temps are like when your playing the game.
For me, that was my problem. My "stock" Fan over my CPU was doing nothing so I spent 20 bucks and got a huge one at newegg. Never had that problem again...

This reply is a little late now, but see if you can possible upgrade your graphics card driver. They may help...it may not.

First of all I want to thank all of you for your help.
I've updated my driver still crashing.The temp. is 51.C right now its been on for 24hrs. and just recoverd from a crash. I am planning on upgrading my ram to 1 gig, I have reformatted my computer, and when time permits I will try all of your other suggestions.

The very last suggestion I have for you is thatr you can go to right click on My Computer and select Properties, but I cannot remember whereto go from there. Anyway, there's an option to uncheck "restart after system failure."

I have a question about the compooty.is it overclocked or is the hard drive old? how old is the hard drive it could be on the blink.
Is it crap or is it memorex?

Just to post an update which may help. My Problem (and I didn't and couldn't believe it) is heat. I have a HP that's less than a year old and having a factory built, top of the range PC, I stupidly thought the computer was capable of looking after itself, in that if it was overheating it would simply turn the fans up, but no. Seems it prefers to act all dumb and simply shut down. Looks like computers have a long way to go IQ-wise, I mean if you were on fire would you not try and out yourself out if the means are at your disposal. Anyway please try this.
Download http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php and turn all your fans up to 100%, then do what you normally do or better yet try to really stretch your PC's legs by running something graphics intensive like a detailed game. If, as in my case, it doesn't shut down anymore, you've identified the problem.
I have to say I'm not happy with whichever clown designed the airflow in my HP. With a power supply fan, CPU fan with 3 tube heatsink and a third fan feeding air out the back, the thing 1)Can't clear the heat and 2)Hasn't the smarts to turn up the fans if it's about to fry itself.
As all my vents/expansion slots etc are being used, has anyone any suggestions on how to further cool a tower system as I really don't want to go cutting holes in the box and I don't want to replace the CPU heatsink as it's actually a good one. (It's problem is it should really have its own vent, as apart from the power unit the CPU produces the most heat) I was thinking about buying one of those mini refrigerators you can plug into a cars cigarette lighter and ripping out the cooling unit and installing it at the bottom of the tower but I need to verify condensation issues first.
