Hey people
I bought my PS2 about 4years ago i think. Considering buying Swap magic V3.6 with the flip top. Just wanted to know how long my PS2 would last playing my backups using Swap magic disk, because it is fairly old, or would it be better to buy a recent PS2?

Just wanted to know if anybody out there has used Swap Magic and it has shortened the life of their PS2?

well, my ps2 is around 4 years old too... and is working just as well as when I bought it.. been using swap magic for about a year now and haven't noticed any differences.. make sure you use good quality media for your backups like taiyo yuden or verbatim DVD-R discs though, because there's more chance of your laser burning out or getting coasters with those cheap discs you can get.

(note) I didn't use my ps2 overmuch in the 2-3 years before I got swap magic as I was away a lot overseas and didn't have many games either.. so could be why my ps2 is still "as new"
I'd give your old one a try, it's very cheap to just get another console case top with flip lid and swap magic 3.6 discs... and if your laser does mess up, then you can still buy the new ps2 then and use the swap discs you already have or get a new laser.
