Yes, San Andreas is great. I played True Crime: LA, but I saw gamespot gave NY a 4.7 (out of 10.) LA got a 7.5, or something, but there was something wrong with it -- it didn't play like GTA at all. The graphics engine or something probably had something to do with it. Needless to say, I never even bothered playing true crime: NY, but it was obvious it wasn't any better than LA.
The only games I have left are Vice City and A-Spec; I miss my San Andreas disc.

True Crimes NY is a good game or at lest it should have been. I mean they had like two year to perfect things but they never. Like in the 1st one i always thought that the driving could have been better but in True Crimes NY it almost seems worse due to that stupid collision engine like when you crash or hit another car it is a joke and i really hate how they took out the tests for new driving skills weapons and fighting more instead you just need to buy them, over all i liked True Crimes NY but it never blow me away nor did GTA due to what i thought was a poor story line compared to 3 & VC.
aye aye man

I just realized how complicated it is getting to 100% on Vice City! San Andreas you probably have to do all the girlfriends, all the territories... maybe you have to buy every tattoo?! lOl

2 b honest true crime streets of LA was a fun game. it wasn't perfect but something you wud enjoy. but true crime 2 was disappointing , first i just don't get the story lines. plus all the missions are repetitive. u start from one level, interrogate and then eliminate the baddie. the side missions aren't compulsive enough.
yeah VC was a top class game. heavy story line nice graphics.it was cool.
is it just me or do u find the camera angle of san adreas a bit awkward, a bit like driver 3. speaking driver 3, wat are ur thoughts about tanner and driver 3?

GTA San Andreas is a excellent game, i would give it a 10/10, there is no other game on the ps2 like it, having played true crime, the first and second one, i think they are both crap, cars are crap handling is crap and alot of other things are good in the game, the storyline is also dead, just doing the same continous stuff over and over again for most of the time. The GTA series is the best, my favourite game is San Andreas!!

San Andreas is great. True Crime 1+2 were quite good, but i feel they lacked something special. San Andreas (and other GTA's) have always been great, and I prefer GTA!

I think there's no comparison - GTA wins hands down. I haven't played Turn Crime: streets of la but I've played True Crime NYC and really didn't think much of it. Tell you the truth I got bored with the game and decided not to play it anymore. Though I'm still playing GTA san andreas and still trying to get 100%.

there is really no comparison between those 2 games
San Andreas, in fact the GTA Series from 3 to that were
all outstanding games with more things that you could do and more free roaming than pretty much any other game i have ever played.
I will admit the True Crimes LA is better than the first one.
But comes nowhere close to being GTA.
A better match would be San Andreas VS Total Overdose
which was at least close, although not nearly as good as GTA
But with future generations they could be top notch with just
a little work.

Yeah, The first True Crimes game was OK, but not
good enought to hold my interest long. I only played a few
minutes of the second one, but it looked like a lot more fun.

Let me say a lot w/as little words as possible:
San Andreas: Classic, lots to do. Violent. Fun.
Total Overdose: Cheesy. Lots of guns. Lots of blood. Unrealistic fight scenes. Superhuman moves.
True Crime 2: CRAP
ok, your turn. (I don't base my views on GameSpot, but they are hella right most of the time.)

well it looks like most people have the same opinion
The GTA series has been, and continues to be,
the standard setter for this style of game.
True Crimes doesn't even come close to matching up
and although i slightly disagee about Total Overdose i will say
It is no GTA for sure. Not really close to being as good all around.
But i did have fun when i played it. It needs a little work but all in all it is a real fun game to play. It is surely much better than some others i have played.
The mexican wrestler icons make me laugh every time i find one.
the music is kinda cool. Give this title some time and it just may be the next GTA with a bit of work. It is the first run of the game so if you remember back to the first few GTA games, and how much they have progressed, you can see the potential is there for another great series if they just take the time to rework it a bit and brush up the minor details.

I agree with walleedwc except i would say it is the best game barnone out of all the games for any console(including 360). The amount of stuff you can do is amazing.

with 25GB they could make the most amazing and jaw dropping GTA of all times! Tons of radio stations, cars, cities, missions, extras and all that.
Even if the graphics were not improved due to system limitations, the game would have so much to it that it could take a long time to finish.
It would be like having 5 GTA games worth of information stuffed into just one game. Wrap you minds around that one.

san andreas wins hand down.... though i have never played true crime. I don't like to base any opinions on gamespot..... I would much rather know what other players think, which is why I look at at the "you say" on gamespot and then form some sort of opinion. And if you have a look, just for curiousity's sake, true crime ny is rated a 7.9 by the people and sola is given a 7.6.... so..... not bad I say :)

I've never played Total Overdose, so I can't judge it. I have played both True Crime games though, and all I can say is I may have liked them.....if i'd never played a GTA game. Not saying the True Crimes are bad games, but they don't make me feel inclined to spend the time it takes to beat them. So my vote goes the San Andreas.

i would have to say GTA San Andreas will win Hands Down but! True Crime 1 wasnt that bad of a game.....for the first 30 mins. then well..... you almost beat it and your fighting an old man in hell! lmao........was so realistic at the start...then the story got all screwy. I havn't played NY but it seems just as lame and corny XD.
But San Andreas was an instant classic. you can never get bored of that game. there is always something to do!, collect all the seashells, horseshoes, spray paint etc. just goof around. all the other missions Pimping, Valet, Trucker.....man ive beaten the game and im still only at like 50 % :S lol

I cant wait for the next GTA game either, at least we PS2 owners have one GTA to look forward to, just in case you didnt know, GTA Liberty City Stories is coming to the PS2, its not the best, but at least there will be bikes and planes in LC and a whole new storyline.
