It is well known that NeroVision and NeroVision Express are notorious for re-encoding MPEG-2 files that are already compliant. It appears that the reason is that, because of variations in the MPEG-2 specification, Nero interprets some of a file's content as not being compliant and re-encodes. One poster on another forum found using ProjectX that the first header of a file was corrupt. When he corrected or deleted the header (not sure which), the file apparently burned without re-encoding. Does anyone have any further information on how to get Nero to NOT re-encode files that do not need to be re-encoded. Additionally, if anyone knows how to use ProjectX to investigate file headers for corruption, I would appreciate that information, as well.
