I'm trying to fix a friends computer... I can't get into the safe mode... I've tried a boot disc and all I can get is a c:\ prompt. What are the secret letters I type in to get back to windows? HELP

well there are no secret letters...

all a boot disc allows you to do is boot the computer without loading windows

if there is even a windows installation on the drive then you could try to repair it using the windows XP cd (that is if your using win xp)

put the cd in the drive and boot into it and when it asks you to, press r to get into the recovery console.

this a dos based way to fix windows

when your in the console type

FIXMBR

this will fix the masterboot record

when youve done that try and boot from the hard drive again. if you still having no luck i would reinstall windows
