I have tried the following..Alcohol 120, DVD decrypter, Nero, DVD Clone, DVDFAB...and still cannot get my unit to copy a Pal PS2 DVD to keep as a back up...Alcohol took 2hrs after find (And ignoring) 420 non read sectors.
Nero would not do it (Version 6). DVDfab won't. and DVD decryptor when I start it up is fine detects drives..then comes up scsi error..(Not running scsi)
when I get it to do a read ISO it fails to read heaps of sectors so I tell it to ignore them. the sectors it cannot read it states "Failked to read sector, (and gives it's number) - Logical Unit communication - CRC Error (Ultra/Dma/32)......I have only just been given a PS2 slim line and would like to back up the games in case any get sctrached. What the hell am I doing wrong....I have just posted after going through a lot of posts to do the job but I'm stuck...The other thing is when I get out of DVD decryptor the DVDrw is going ten to the dozen (with the Ps2 disc still in ) and I have to reboot to remove........Anything come to mind guys.

have you only tried 1 game, or does this happen for many games?

Yeah DVD Decrypter can lock up on occasion. It only happened to me once, but it was the same thing, when trying to read a scratched original. The disc is scratched or dirty. That's what all the read errors are. Alcohol 120% is my go to program when DVD Decrypter fails, now you know why. DVD Decrypter is very picky with scratched discs. Just burn the mds file you got from Alcohol 120% with DVD Decrypter to quality media. With all those read errors, it's likely the game will skip at some points. A copy after all, is only as good as the original. It probably won't be unplayable, but you should be aware.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I went in and disabled DMA on the drive and it all works OK.......next question....how do you get the copy to play in the PS2

You Need To Either Get a mod chip or Swap Magic or an HD Loader

Turning DMA mode off will lead to poorer burn quality. I'd suggest finding a way to get your burner to work with DMA mode active.
