Nero info tool is reporting that my new BenQ DW1655 LS supports writing of BD-R & BD-Rom (Bluray discs) is this true? CAN ANY1 SHED SOME LIGHT?

No!

It doesn't support BD-R, BD-RE or BD-Rom in read mode.
It doesn't support BD-R or BD-RE in write mode.
