Hello
I just got a close out deal on an Io Magic Light Sribe DVD Internal IDE Recorder
I was able to make DVD's just fine - But I just recently tried to ERASE a Re-Writable DVD, and contiually get prompts that say that the disc is not a re-writable disc
The discs are NOT faulty - I'm able to erase just FINE in another machine with another IDE Pioneer DVD Writer
I wonder if it's got anything to do with that stupid 'light-sribe' feature that this Io Magic recorder has?

I'm not sure if I conveyed this question properly?
I'm, trying to use Nero to 'ERASE' the rewritable DVD
(as I've always done) in my other machine
Just simpy 'ERASE' - I'm not trying to burn anything
I'm thinking it's this new Io Magic Writer?

what type of disk is it, and is your dvd burrner able to burn DVD+RW because maybe you just don't understand that your drive might not be able to read it. but really it just might be the drive:P

Thanx Dude
No No - this is machine NEW and reads and writes 16X DVD- DVD+
Yeah it sures sounds fishy
Why would it be a faulty install of Nero when in fact I've already burned DVD's just fine?
I'm betting it's this IO Magic Drive
?????

Did you try more than one RW disk? They do go bad from time to time. Your new burner may even prefer a diferent brand of blank RW disk.

I am trying to erase a traxdata DVD-RW 8.5GB disc with no luck using the pioneer 109. I've tried Nero, roxio and Alcohol 120. There is about 3.6GB of data on the disc but the progs don't recognise it as a RW disc. Can anyone help?

Gentlemen
My educated guess was CORRECT!
Take my advice and NEVER buy an IO Magic DVD Burner with a feature called 'Light-Scribe' - these burners were sold out at Staples.
They are TOTAL JUNK!
Soon as I bought a NEW Sony it recognized Nero NO PROBLEM!

"Sorry for sounding stupid but what is an I/O magic burner and lightscribe"
At some point of manufacturing, the company IO Magic decided to incorporate a feature called Light Scribe (with expensive special blank DVD's you could inscribe them with writing)
Just take my advice, and STAY AWAY from IO Magic - Thier products are JUNK - that's why I couldn't erase the data with an IO Magic Drive on a DVD disc with Nero 6
That's IT boys!
Have a nice day!

@ jeepster hi :)
Traxdata will be made by Ritek, and so far as i know they don't make a D/L rw.
your not looking at the silver logo that say's RW and mistakeing this as a rewriteable?
the little logo means read/write, not rewrite
@ hi arnie :)

@gurnard
Hi to you, thanks for the info, I thought I was going crazy because I could not find any info on this media. As far as I know the article I found stated that DVD DLRW are not on any market yet. Since I have never seen Traxdata in this country, or at least in my area can't comment too much on it.

thanks arnie.
I think your right about the 8.5DL disc. I assumed it meant rewritable. Bit confusing, don't you think?
