Using Action Replay to boot psx games

I bought action replay for playstation, but can't seem to get it to boot up a backup disc. Im using it on a PS2 but it says its for playstation 1. It should be compatable right. When I choose load game without codes do I open the drive or open my flip top and change? or is there a special way to do it? So far I've had no luck booting a backup of Valkyerie profile. Is the version too old or something? the disc says 2002 so maybe they didnt take PS2 into account when they made it.

Also the version of Action Replay I'm using is 4.20 and my ps2 is version 4. Does the AR disc have to be the one that comes with the double pack?

Edit: The AR disc I'm using dosent even load legit ps1 games. im using the one

NVM, I got it. what you have to do is when it says switch discs open the drive normally leave the AR disc and close it. Wait a few seconds then open the flip top (the disc will be spinning but ignore that. Swap it with the backup and bam the game loads.

Hey i herd you can use action replay like a swap magic to play backups with slim tool, magic switch or the tape and tissue mod but how do u do it i tried it and i cut my finger lol it says put in gam but it doesnt stop spinning

just swap it once you see the ps1 logo or when you need to boot the game with codes in action replay, just swap it without ejecting there and hit X so it plays.

In ActionReplay MAX the disc doesnt stop spinning if i swap it its gonna scratch the dvd right?
