my norton security keeyps saying that its detected the above intrustion attempt ( nmap xmas scan)

the annoying thing is after this happens my newsgroup connections drop out and takes ages to restart again - anyone expereinced this - or know whats happening - im using norton 2005 - grabit with giganews account and have a 2mb bulldog adsl (uk)
