What is the difference between a cross-over cable and an ethernet cable? Can I transfer mods through my xbox live ethernet cable?

K, with a router you use a standard ethernet cable.

Only when connecting computer to computer or computer to xbox you need a crossover/patch cable.

I know I need a cross over cable now, but I need to know how to find one(ex. Best But, Circuit City, ect.). I also need help on how to connect it to my Xbox. Does it go in the exact spot where I hook my ethernet cable to for XBL?(the ethernet cable goes from my router to my Xbox) I am also scared about a huge price because right now I have to use a 50ft cable to reach my Xbox!

That's not true!!! You also need a crossover cable if you are planning on taking the wireless signal in through your laptop and outputting it to your xbox (ie supplying your xbox with wireless internet through your laptop)
