Ok I record programs with my dvd recorder then I use dvd decrypter to put the vobs on my harddrive for editing. After editing I put the vobs back onto a dvd-r using nerovision. The question I have is when recording with nerovision I can store roughly 100 minutes of video, and using a dvd recorder the disk can only hold one hour of video. How is this possible? So for example a vob I made on the dvd burner is 1gb lets say. Then when I put it into Nerovision I notice that it only takes up about half of that amount of that memory on the disc. So for some reason on a Nerovision dvd I can store roughly 100 minutes of the same quality video, as opposed to the 60 minutes on the standalone dvd recorder. If they are truly the same quality how is this possible? Any info would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

hi

could be BITRATE

say 7000 for recorder

and 6000 for nero

makes sizes smaller!

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Thanks for your help, I downloaded DVD Bit Rate Viewer to see how large the difference was and my original dvd recorder dvd had an average bitrate of 9.3 and my Nero dvd w/ twice as much video has an average bitrate of 5.19. And to compare the two I used bitrate viewer on two commercial dvds; Friends Season 6 Disk 4, and Lost Season 1 Disk 2, which came back with a bitrates of 5.39 and 5.12, respectively. So what would you suggest? I mean is there a point where bitrate is irrelevant, because it appears at some point the relationship between "bitrate" and "quality" becomes meaningless. Once again thanks for your help.

but keep the lower size as if quailty is good then size will be better...

Nothing here to see, move along folks.
