make sure the drive is in an anti static bag.

i usually get a box and then wrap so much bubble wrap round the drive (while in its anti static bag that is) that when it goes in tho box it cant actually move this way you know its not going to bounce around in the box and it its dropped in transit theres plenty of padding to cushion the drive from damage

Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet
Comp2: AMD Sempron 2400+ OC ~ 2.0GHz (Stable), Asrock K7S41GX, 512MB DDR 333, Onboard Graphics, 40GB Maxtor IDE

It makes -all- the difference.

When evolution selects its agents, it does so at a cost, makes demands in exchange for singularity, and you may be asked to do something against your very nature. This force, evolution, is not sentimental. Like the Earth itself, it knows only the hard facts of life's struggle with death. All you can do is hope and trust that when you have served its needs faithfully, there may still remain some glimmer of the life you once knew.

What if it is in a External HDD case? Please tell me it doesn't matter because I forgot the esb at the store a half hour away. Also what if the HDD is blank will it electro-static affect it?

Honestly, as long as you unplug the cables and maybe put alittle piece of masking tape over the jacks: You should be disco (fine). Yes, the bubble wrap -can- screw things up. But, it's very very rare. You really have nothing to worry about.
