I recently bought a LG GSA-4167B DVD writer.
the problem is that when i try to burn a DVD using a melody DVD-R it
does not burn the DVD properly. Now is this because of the dvd or the
dvd writer?? also even if there is even a little dirt on the dvd-r the
burn process fails.. is dvd more stringent than cd when it comes to the
blank dvd being crystal clear without any scratches ?? also while
burning there are gaps on the dvd. i have an image to show but cant link it here.
thanx in advanc..
after burning a dvd im not able to read the data on it.
and also sometimes the burn process fails or there are gaps on the disc that is just burnt
check the link for a view of a dvd i burnt last nite http://broadbandforum.in/LG_DVD_Problem_-t3908.html
the point im askin is that is a DVD writer more sensitive to the blank DVD-R (being without any scratches or dust particles on it) rather than cd's. coz i used my LG cd writer (yeah i have both LG cd and dvd writers hehe) with melody cd-r and they worked fine
Yes, DVD's are more sensitive, particularly when burning movies. Get some quality disc's, such as Taiyo Yuden , Verbatium, MAXELL made in Japan, to name a few.
I had the same problem going back a wile now reason cheap grap shit disk"s ive got the LG GSA-4167B DVD writer no prob with it so far Ritek G05 disk"s never let me down yet
I have 4- LG GSA-4167B burners, all 4 have the latest firmware (DL12). NONE have ever gave me any trouble at all. However, I ONLY use High Quality Media, Verbatim, Sony MIJ, Fuji MIJ, Sony MIT, Maxell MIT (RITEK) on accasion. This is a really good burner. Why else would I buy 4? I am an Avid LG burner fan. I have a 4120B, 4160B, 4163B, and these (4) 4167B burners. No problems ever with any of them. I ONLY get my firmware from LG s site & I update it Exactly as LG recommends to do it. I see no reason to blame the burner for playback issues. Use good media. You can get great Media for as low as $14.99 for a 50 pack! Example: Staples this week has Sony DVD+R & DVD-R 8x media for this price: $14.94 for 50. About 30 cents each.
i have another question i wanna ask, is there anyway that we can use the remaining space on the dvd that wasnt used while burning an iso.
e.g: if an ISO of fedora core is abt 2.7GB. now here when i burn this iso image onto a dvd. i am unable to do a multisession and use the remining space that is just being wasted... any ideas/tricks that i can use to write onto the wasted space ??
After burning to a -R or +R you cannot add any more content to the disc, however, you can add more with RW disc. However, you can re-author with DVD Shrink multiple sessions, to add more content at the time of ripping/burner, not after.
DVDRemake also gives you this capabilty, along with some other software that escapes me, at the moment.
