burns +RW, but problem with DVD-R

Hi,

I have a Samsung DVD-burner (TSSTcorp). I have windows XP (SP2) with all updates done. I use Nero suite v6. I'm able to write CD's (music/video or data) without any problems, but DVD's are a problem. I used a moser-baer DVD+RW and the burner works fime, but I'm not able to write onto DVD-R's. It starts the caching of files, and burn process with the lead-in being written. After the lead-in is done, the read buffer remains the same, the progress is stuck at 1% and the smaller buffer below does not start up. All applications freeze, but Windows is responsive. I can see that the lead-ins have been wrtitten, but no data. The com recognizes it as DVD-video, but finds no video. The funny part is that i'm able to write the same data on a +RW DVD succesfully.
I took the drive back to the vendor, he attatched it to his sys (WIN 98) and succefully burnt a DVD-R/. So, I'm convinced that it is either an OS problem or aproblem with NERo. Has anyoner encountered this problem before. I even formatted, re-installed windows and installed NEro as the first application with all the same problems. Does SP2 have any problems with this, cause my vendor used win98 and succefully wrote onto a DVD-R,. I'vwe already wasted 8 DVD's and the last one, I perform simulations with same results.
