DVD Drive does not recognise a disc as a DVD.

I am trying to have Windows XP recognize a disc as a DVD when it is placed in my DVD drive. Recently, the drive does not show the disc as a DVD, but instead it is show as a data disc.

There used to be a prompt when a disc was inserted. It was recognized as a DVD by windows and there were some possible actions to preform; such as "Play in WMP."

Now the prompt does not appear. To play the movie I must select a .vob from the DVD to play it. This prevents me from removing the subtitles that are associated with the movie.

I believe this an OS problem, however I do not know for sure.
