Lol people who made addict status and then either got banned or got cheesed off with the website. The former in the case of brobear, and the latter in the case of Sophocles.
Hehe, yeah you did well with an ECS and Jetway board that lasted that long, it's not all that common. To be fair, two of my mates have had ECS boards (one of them still has) and they've lasted alright, they've just been unremarkable on the performance and settings front, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Having said that, the A8N-SLi SE board I ordered for my new build wasn't expensive, about £60, and although it's not top of the range it has plenty of features, is made by a reputable brand (DFI are good too, so dw I'm not doing a brobear) and is good for many years of service with SLI, and loads of Serial ATA, enhanced and possibly overclocked goodness. For the money, it's much better than buying a Premium or heaven forbid, an A8N32.

aurgg.. the program that me parents have only supports ie and FireFox.. so i got maxthon.. to many bars though..
a little help real quick.. is their anything yall think i could use in my computer other than a new video card?
and when is intel supposed to drop the prices on the pentium series??
same with AMD?

No idea about any forthcoming price drops (though probably around the conroe release), AMD the day after the conroe release for cert, so 24th July. My MSI MS-6775 (KT6M-ILS) has lasted me 2 1/2 years and counting, despite the slight issue I had in october... It survived a PSU hammering as well!

Ya think??? I do agree with you in the fact that rocks shouldn't have been thrown in the first place. You did all that was asked in providing benches to prove your point, so to be greeted with skepticism and sarcasium was kind of a slap in the face. Next time you slap back I might suggest that you take that armored glove off first!
Personally, I'm reall happy that you have found something everyone else seems to be missing with their 3800+s. It may just be something that can only be accomplished with a board comparable to yours. People tend to have this notion that if Joe Blow can do it, so can I! But there's too many variables involved. 2 CPUs made side by side on the same assembly line may have different characteristics and limits.
I'm just as happy for you as I was for Sophocles when he built both his Opteron 175 and 170!

that was the only thing lacking on the ecs board until I flashed it with the Honeyx bios.Then I was able to adjust the fsb,hence 1700 @ 1677mhz.
The jetway was just a basic board but proved to be a reliable workhorse.

Thats correct no 2 cpu's the same,no 2 ram modules the same.Then you have to consider the power supply,quality of components on the motherboard and the list goes on.My results are what Iv'e got with what I have.The guy that purchased all the components for me and sent them here(it was cheaper to have him do the running around than me spend $100
+ on fuel) has a 3800x2 as well.He told me he was having trouble getting to 2.3ghz with his.I told him I had got to 2.6 ghz the day after I put it all together so he was a little disappointed with his results.There are others over @ DFI street who have mixed results also.
Some are having trouble getting 2.5ghz stable others are getting the same or better than me.
On a side note,here is a math bench I took a few weeks back @2.9ghz
on one of our 3 degrees mornings while still using sandra 2007.Notice the MIPS and MFLOPS are lower than 2.85ghz when using sandra 2005.I'm sure thats why we all prefer 2005 over 2007!

I doubt very much that that's the reason. I think change for changes sake is a bad thing as it sets 2 standards. If it meant something, fine but this doesn't as you can't make a comparison to older benches that are meaningful. It also puts the meaning of MIPS in jeopardy. Like I said in a previous post, MIPS should be just that, MIPS! It's like SiSoft re-defined what MIPS mean, which is rediculous.
I also hate that you can't maximize the benchmark window so that you can see what you are comparing yours to! It's also hard to read in the thread. That's why I switched back real quick!

Yeah!!! It's like starting a war with yourself. I mean, does that make previous benches bogus? Maybe it's a future advertising thing! But which benches do you believe? How can you change how many million instructions per second your CPU does? Are they going to give back the money people paid for past versions of Sandra because they're flawed?

Well I'm back at it again,I have dropped the ram timings down slightly and my memory bandwith ia now at 5432.One quick question,How much of a role does the video card play(if any) in cpu and or memory benchmarks?I ask this as I am waiting on installing my 6800gt(it's in the wife's computer and hers won't be here until tomorrow)
I am currently using an old Matrox 2/4x agp card with only 32megs of ram.
Main System- Amd/64 3800x2 currently@ 2.5ghz. Asus A8N-E,win.xp-pro.4x1gb.Ocz platnium ddr 400,Maxtor 40gb.& 250gb.ide & 2x W.D.250 sata,Benq 1650V dvd Reader & Benq DW-1655 Writer,EVGA Geforce 7600gs,Creative Audigy-LS,Antec 750w psu. Vizio 37"hdtv monitor 1360x768@75hz.

None that I'm aware of. It could make your computer seem slow to look at but the bus for the video comes after the CPU and memory and it's usually 33MHz for PCI, 66MHz for AGP and 100MHz for PCIe. Believe it or not the old Matrox isn't too bad if you use the Matrox drivers instead of the ones in windows.

Thanks for the speedy reply.I think this must have been one of the better Matrox cards,it's a G-400 dual head and even has a cooling fan.I've tried the Matrox drivers from they're sight and it turned the wifes screen pink (that's how she wound up with my 6800gt)..I installed it in the prescott build with xp drivers and it looks fine running 1280x1024.I'll hold on to this one...it makes for a good spare,just incase!

My Dell Precision came with that model installed and the video was bog slow. If you opened my computer, and drag the box all around it would make pleats on the screen until it caught up. After I loaded the Matrox drivers, that problem and most of slowness went away with the box moving smoothly around. I don't know what's causing the pink. Did you try different resolutions? It also might be that her monitor is not compatable with it. Matrox still makes this card for the server market which makes it about a 6 year old design, but not bad for what it is. It's fun with 2 monitors as you can open a different window or program in each one.
I have an XFX-400 AGP 4x w/64 MB of ram you can have in a week or so. It's in my Prescott right now. It will do her's just fine and you can get your 6800 back. Just PM me.

I know it wasn't a monitor issue as we have a pair of Dell E196fp's (I use one and the wife uses the other.)

I just thought of another thing that I didn't snap-to when I read your post. Quote:

I may be mistaken but I think the voltage is different on the 2x4x than it is on the 4x8x. Most 2x4x cards were 3.3 volt, while 4x8x are 1.5 or 0.8 volt. If it's a 3.3, it can damage the MB so be careful. I know a 4x8x won't work in a 2x4x slot! as it has a different 4x standard.

According to Matrox tech. support Millenium series cards were universal and meant to work on either voltage,I will check again though.

The card works on 3.3 and 1.5 volt but you have a 2X board and may not work properly on a 1.5 volt only motherboard.
- Our G-400 and later graphics cards, be it AGP4x or AGP2x, are compatible with virtually all motherboards.
However, if the motherboard calls for a 1.5V card ONLY to be installed, the 2x versions of our G400 card may not work properly.
We've identified the G400 boards that support AGP 4x transfer rates with
an additional '4A' in the part number: G4+MDH4A32GB/40.
G400 boards without the '4A' in the part number will be the models that may not work with 1.5V only motherboards.
Please note that all models of the Marvel G400, G450, G450 eTV, and G550 series are not affected as an agp 2x version of these cards do not exist.

I think that is correct, AGP 2x/4x used a different voltage, so if you used an old AGP card in a new board, it's toast!
