I have read through the tutorials on this forum, however I am still stuck.
I have a Netgear DG834G router and I configured it to open port 51002 ? a random port.
I used this site https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 and it shows the port as being open. I configured BitComet to use this port, but I can still only connect to ?local peers? and my download and upload speed is very slow. And when I use http://btfaq.com/natcheck.pl as a test it says it is unable to connect.
I have turned all firewalls off and tried a lot of different torrents.
Any ideas on how I could fix this would be greatly appreciated.

SORRY
I have now worked out the problem.
The port isn't fully opened. It isn't allowing Unsolicited Packets or Ping Echo. I worked this out, but any ideas on how to open the port fully.

Try using http://www.portforward.com

"Then allow the port numbers in your firewall, also i advise you switch from bit comet to Azureus or Utorrent as bit comet is banned from most sites :)

Thanks for the reply Celticfc.
I have followed all the steps on http://www.portforward.com. However I still can't get the ports to be fully opened.
I have also turned off ZoneLabs and the Windows firewall completely.

Are you using Zone alarm pro ? if so it can be harder to configure , you have to allow the ports in ZA then allow entry using the allow screen which should come up next to the tray icon when your client tries to access the net :) .

Also have you switched client ? if so remember to change your ports in your client to a num above 50000 +

As you can see it shows the port as being closed and I am not sure on how to open it.

I have switched clients to Azureus. When I test the port I am trying to open: 51002. There is a NAT error.
Also i have completely configured ZoneLabs.
