i know this is probably the wrong forum to be asking this but my friend who own a playstation 2 says that you do not need to mod it to play burnt games. Im not totally sure if he is lying or not because he lies about everything..
he says if you use dvd decryptor as well as nero or some other burning program that it will make a burnt copy of the game that the playstation 2 will recognize WITHOUT a mod chip... anyone know if he is bluffing or not?

Your friend is Wrong.

You need either a MODCHIP or some sort of Swap Disc with a slide tool or fliptop to play backup games.

There are barcodes that are pressed into PS2 disc which your DVD/CD drive cannot read.

Swap Disc like Swap Magic has codes pressed into thier disc to load past the copyprotection. WHich then will load a program that will let you swap your disc with a backup 1.

Modchip will bypass the barcode all togther. I would assume that is what it is doing. SInce I use Swap Magic.

he is lying.there are disc do that can boot backups with out mod chips.there called swap magic 3.6.ifyou are in england or ireland i got mine from www.ps2stuff.co.uk

No offense, but your friend is an idiot. There is no such PS2 can play backup games without any kind of modifications period.
